The Software Test Engineer will champion software testing and verification/validation activities for infotainment projects and infotainment modules such as HMI, Tuner, Bluetooth, Connectivity, Wi-Fi, Media, Vehicle Interface, Audio, Voice Recognition, Systems, Navigation, Telematics, and Security. This includes test planning, test development, test execution and test results reporting for new features and regression, integration testing and system testing of Infotainment products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Champion software testing and verification/validation activities for infotainment projects and infotainment modules, both on test bench and vehicle

Some key tasks include:

  • Feature specific testing, Integration testing, Regression testing
  • Stability testing, Performance testing
  • In vehicle testing/troubleshooting, bench testing/troubleshooting
  • Defect reproduction, defect verification of fixed/resolved issues
  • Create and maintain test cases and manual/automated test scripts
  • Smoke/Sanity testing to support continuous integration build environment
  • Find defects in software, characterize defects, collect logs and open defect tickets
  • Prioritize defects and work with development teams to drive down defects
  • Summarize and report test results
  • Support vehicle test drives
  • Create test reports of errors with supporting traces, log files and excellent descriptions

Job Qualifications:

  • BS Computer Science/Engineering desired, MS strongly preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in software testing
  • Expertise in test case development, test execution, test cycles management, test status reporting
  • Expertise in testing on Android Platform, Android Applications, Embedded Systems
  • Expertise in Android test/debug tools
  • Good working knowledge of Testing technologies, tools, and test methods for infotainment
  • Good working knowledge of functional and non-functional software testing, the software test life cycle, and various test design methodologies.
  • Good working knowledge of CAN protocols, CAN analyzer tools
  • Good working knowledge of Unit, Module, Component level testing
  • Good working knowledge of White Box, API / Interface test development and testing
  • Good familiarity with software testing across all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Version Control Tools such as Git, SVN
  • A valid U.S. Driver's license and automobile insurance are required during employment in this position.

Preferred Qualifications & Desired Competencies:

  • Software testing training (SQE, ISTQB, etc.)
  • Requirements management tool knowledge such as Jama, Doors
  • Knowledge of test automation is good such as Android test automation, test case scripting, and scripting languages such as shell, Python
  • Dedicated performer with Passion for testing and software quality
  • Relentless learner with a dedication to learning new technologies and test methods
  • Avid follower of the latest technology and products in consumer electronics
  • Test Automation experience
  • Embedded programming experience on script languages
