Mechanical Service Technician (Millbury)

The Service Technician will be servicing rental equipment and customer equipment in a timely and effective manner. They consistently deliver a positive customer experience to all customers, utilizing consultative skills to anticipate customer needs, suggest alternatives and provide solutions. This safety focused team member is knowledgeable in all areas of CRAFCO, INC. business. They will be responsible for the shop area, rental fleet, and fleet operations, coordinating activities in the branch, providing superior customer service. The Service Technician will operate forklifts, work on equipment, run equipment, and complete assigned tasks based on priority.

Responsibilities:

-Maintain a tidy, clean and safe work environment, adhere to all safety procedures

-Maintain positive customer relations through professional interactions with customers

-Manages the repair and maintenance of company owned and customer equipment.

-Prepares work schedules and handles service calls to meet customer needs and

assure that equipment is available as required.

-Perform every job right the first time in order to maintain and exceed customer

expectations and prevent unnecessary service calls in the field.

-Keep CRAFCO, INC. equipment in good working order and in clean presentable

condition.

-Load and unload equipment while complying with DOT regulations for height, width and

weight

-Prepare new equipment for rent or sale and startups

-Assist with deliveries of products or equipment

-Perform maintenance check on rental equipment before and after use for damage,

hours used, tires, mileage, fuel levels, safety decals and safety compliance

-Perform, in a safe manner, repairs of rental equipment and tools, including checking oil,

grease, fluids and verification of equipment for rental-ready status

-Communicate with lead technician, counter person and/or service manager for

equipment maintenance requirements and repair parts

-Provide assistance to all other levels of technicians as needed in regard to

troubleshooting repairs

-Check out, familiarize and demonstrate equipment for customers

-Maintain a positive and professional image of CRAFCO, INC.

-Orders parts in order to maintain adequate supplies.

-Provides training and assistance to team members.

-Works with equipment vendors to learn the maintenance requirements and capabilities

of new equipment added to inventory.

-Evaluates all equipment after repairs, maintenance or safety checks.

-Documents equipment status before and after rental.

-Handles customer complaints regarding equipment condition or operation.

-Fabricate parts as needed to meet needs

-Perform safety inspections and D.O.T. compliance on equipment

-Meet all company, governmental and equipment-specific safety requirements

-Perform other duties as assigned by manager

Qualifications:

-Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving history.

-Knowledge and understanding of D.O.T. regulations and compliance

-3 to 5 years’ experience with similar equipment

-Must be able to safely use mechanic’s tools.

-Knowledge of work planning and scheduling and other time management activities

-Strong understanding of equipment capabilities and safety requirements.

-Clear perspective of maintenance and repair issues in the industry

-Inventory management

-Excellent trouble-shooting skills

-Ability to work independently and be flexible regarding work assignments

-Physical ability to move large, bulky and/or heavy merchandise weighing up to 75

pounds

-Must possess a high degree of safety-awareness

-Working knowledge of equipment design and safety requirements.
