As a Temporary Laboratory Assistant at IDEXX, you will be a key contributor at one of the largest veterinary diagnostic companies in the world. You will assist with laboratory testing that helps veterinarians diagnose and treat pets across the United States. The positions we are looking to fill in our very busy N. Grafton, MA lab is are in the Sample Management and Parasitology departments.

In the Parasitology department, you'll be part of a team that sets up inventory and testing benches as well as swirls fecal samples to identify parasites, utilizing fecal flotation and various microscopic techniques.

Schedule for these full time 40-hr positions:

Mon-Fri 11:30P-8A with every other Sat 8P-4:30A.

In the Sample Management department you will be providing inventory control, accessioning samples, data entry of patient information and running samples to departments.

Mon-Fri 11/11:30P-7:30-8A with every other Sat 6P-2:30A

What can you expect?

Our lab processes thousands of veterinary samples a night, which we receive from veterinary clinics across the US. What type of samples? Glad you asked! We receive blood, urine, and fecal samples; we accession them into our computer system, and then we run diagnostic tests on those samples. The results are then shared back to the Veterinarian, and they can then formulate a treatment plan if the animal is sick. You would be a crucial part of the process of helping to keep pets happy and healthy - how great is that?

Management will determine length of temporary assignment based on business needs. Typical contracts are 3 – 6 months with opportunity to obtain a full time position dependent on need, availability and job performance during time as a temporary worker.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

You must be reliable – attendance is an essential function of the position

You must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, standard operating procedures (SOPs), material safety data sheets (MSDSs), operating and maintenance instructions, government rules and technical procedures

You must have a demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task

You must have strong initiative and follow through

You must have outstanding attention to detail

You must have the ability to work independently and as a team contributor

You must demonstrate a high level of customer service

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

You must be able to stand and/or sit for long periods of time.

You must be able to use your hands, fingers and arms to handle objects, tools and controls.

You may occasionally be required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

You must be able to occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception.
