Sr. Network Deployment Engineer / Team Lead

Work Location: Foxboro or Woburn

Position Overview:
  • As a senior member of the Thrive network project team, you will be responsible for design and implementation of projects, and production support activities.
  • The position centers on Fortinet firewalls, Cisco and Meraki switching, Architect, Implementation, Migration strategies and support.
  • You will provide technical leadership and operational support to peers within the Engineering dept.
  • Responsibilities will entail product evaluations/versions and upgrade implementations, project tasks for systems/network expansion, support, and monitoring systems.
  • Lead system design and performance evaluation efforts. Will direct/lead projects within our team as a Senior Project Engineer.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree, Technical Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent problem solver; able to prioritize and coordinate between multiple projects
  • Extensive Networking and Firewall experience
  • Self-motivated, has ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Experience troubleshooting network configuration and hardware issues
  • Knowledge and experience with Fortinet / Meraki products
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to articulate technical information and convey to non-technical people
  • Enthusiastic individual with professional appearance and strong drive with a “can do” attitude

Education Requirement
  • Bachelor’s Degree, Technical Degree or equivalent work experience

Primary Responsibilities
  • Ability to handle diverse networking environments in a wide cross section of business clients
  • Analyze and document an unfamiliar client / server network environment while assessing weaknesses in client’s current infrastructure
  • Perform rapid analysis of networking level incidents and consistently demonstrate the ability to determine the cause
  • Provide consulting to clients on certain applications, Thrives’ best practices, and general computing processes.
  • Explain technical concepts and business solution goals and expectations to non-technical stakeholders
  • Sets client expectations appropriately throughout the implementation process.
  • Work through the project process to drive deployments to a successful outcome.
    • Kick off projects internally to identify any context missing from scopes or additional service opportunities.
    • Present project plan at technical kick off to let the client know the broad strokes of a project.
    • Create a Technical Implementation Plan to identify any outage windows or potential risks.
    • Complete project work in scheduled maintenance windows.
    • Transition completed project work to support team with all relevant documentation required for long term maintenance.
    • Escalate when necessary to next level engineer for further review/troubleshooting.
  • Communicate directly with customers on project plans, potential impacts and testing procedures.
  • Demonstrate the correct level of urgency while resolving client incidents
  • Demonstrate excellent time management skills to accomplish large projects.

Secondary Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and guidance to less experienced Engineers
  • Help Define and Implement new processes to streamline and optimize service delivery and ensure client satisfaction as they relate to business / service needs
