US Commercial Counsel

Job Description

Biogen is seeking experienced attorneys with a solid background in healthcare law advice on commercial, regulatory and healthcare compliance issues affecting the marketing and sale of one or more of the company’s products and product candidates.

These positions will also support Biogen’s US commercial operations and other related commercial support functions. Responsibilities include counseling on laws applicable to pharmaceutical promotion and sales, PhRMA code and promotional practices, risk management and mitigation and general negotiating and contracting on commercial matters and government and managed care contracting support. Experience in Digital Health and Social Media issues preferred.

This attorney will serve as a strategic business partner to the respective brand team(s) by providing clear legal advice and practical business-focused solutions enabling the business to achieve its objectives while preserving and protecting the company’s integrity and reputation. A successful candidate will exhibit superior legal skills together with a proficiency for critical thinking and problem solving in a multi-functional environment.

This position reports to the Head of Legal for US and will be based at the company’s US commercial headquarters in Weston, MA with frequent on-site meetings in Cambridge, MA.

Qualifications

7+ years minimum experience in the bio/pharma life sciences department of a biotech or pharmaceutical company and 10+ years legal experience overall.

Strong technical background in the commercialization of pharmaceutical products in the US.

Experience with materials review process, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and pharmaceutical service and distribution agreements strongly preferred.

Strong communication, relationship management, analytical skills, and the ability to work in a matrix organization.

Able to work independently and to prioritize multiple demands.

Spoken languages: English fluent. Additional languages valued.
