Job Description

This is for a 6-month full-time co-op from January to June 2021. This role will support the neuromuscular disorders (NMD) team in DQM. Responsibilities will focus on processing time series data from wearable motion sensors and/or audio recordings, and will include data quality review, pre-processing, and algorithm development. This work will contribute to readouts of clinical research studies investigating the quantitative assessment of gait, balance, fatigue, and dysarthria in patients with NMD as well as healthy volunteers. Depending on the candidate’s specific background as well as timing of individual studies, the role may focus primarily on a single dataset (e.g. motion sensor data in a fatiguing endurance test, longitudinally collected speech samples) in order to use the co-op period efficiently.

In this role, you will obtain experience working with clinical data and expand your knowledge of medicine, especially with respect to functional measures of neuromuscular diseases. You will also become familiar with working in a matrixed environment and gain experience communicating complex ideas to a cross-functional audience.
