We are seeking someone with extensive experience in COPD to join our Type 2 Immunity & Dupixent Research Group within the Immunology & Inflammation Research Therapeutic Area . The candidate will lead a small team of scientists to help drive breakthroughs in mechanisms of action, targeting strategies, and biomarkers and therapeutic responses in pre-clinical models. The candidate will work closely with other disciplines across Sanofi to drive early discovery research programs into early clinical development, providing scientific and technical leadership.Summary of Key Responsibilities

Has deep knowledge in COPD and associated co-morbidities.

Lead innovation and target discovery projects in COPD, working with scientific platform teams.

Develop novel strategies and technologies to conduct experiments and analytical procedures in COPD, applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts.

Coordinate research efforts and make key technical contributions affecting the direction of the group and/or project.

Regularly contributes at the project team level as a full participant. Influences at the project team level.

Identifies and develops scientific activities to support short-term and long-term operational goals.

Develop and characterize innovative preclinical models (both in vitro and in vivo) that enable the interrogation of mechanism of action of immune therapies dedicated to drug discovery and development projects in COPD.

Build efficient interactions with collaborators within and outside the Immunology and Inflammation Research and Early Development Therapeutic Area.

Provide scientific expertise, establish, and manage external scientific collaborations, monitor external markets, and provide critical assessments.

Provide and promote support for operational excellence according to Sanofi values and ethics.

Prepare publications, presentations and reports as required in accordance with Sanofi quality standards.

Provides informal and formal mentoring within project team.

Essential Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree plus minimum 8 years of relevant research experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting OR Master’s Degree plus minimum 5 years of relevant research experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting OR PhD plus minimum 3 years of relevant research experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting.

Consistent record of publications, patents, external presentations in COPD.

Track record of drug target identification and validation.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with organoid models of human disease is highly desirable

Experience within the field of asthma/COPD overlap syndrome is highly desirable.

Experience mentoring and managing other scientists is preferred.

Strong people organizational and presentation skills.

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Excellent interpersonal and team skills; track record of success working collaboratively across disciplines
