Principal Systems Engineer - Linux

Aqueduct Technologies is seeking a Systems Engineer for their customer, based out of the Greater Portsmouth, NH area. The Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation and operation of the customer’s server, storage, and cloud infrastructure which primarily utilizes VMWare for both internal and external customers. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience developing and maintaining Enterprise level computer, servers and software infrastructures and the ability to manage multiple projects, and will also possess excellent troubleshooting skills. This is a permanent, salaried positionEssential Job Functions:

• Oversee the planning, design and implementation of the customer’s private cloud and discrete server infrastructure including VMWare, HP, Netapp, Linux, MySQL and related technologies
• Analyze user and application requirements to determine operating system, storage, memory, and CPU needs for both physical and virtual servers.
• Design, develop, and deploy systems within Synergy, C7000 and C3000 HPE Blade Enclosures and servers as well as discrete rackmount servers
• Assist with the development, analysis, configuration, and implementation of storage architectures. This includes gathering and analysis of application and end user storage requirements and IO performance needs to determine the proper storage layouts and disaster recovery profiles
• Project planning, including cost analysis and timeline estimates
• Working with corporate cyber security to ensure resources are architected and deployed in a secure fashion
• Working with internal audit to validate policies and procedures are followed
• Participate in future technology direction discussions leveraging experience and active research
• Documentation of systems and application design and configuration

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering related field
• 10+ years’ experience
• Sound knowledge of VMware ESX and related technologies, and experience in a similar role
• Exceptional analytical and technical aptitude.
• Great organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Availability to resolve urgent VMware environment problems outside of business hours.
• Clear and effective communication skills, both written and spoken
