Front-End Web Developer

Position Description Opening for a Front-End Web Developer to provide support to the Defense Media Activity (DMA) contract located at Ft Meade, MD. This position is an exciting opportunity to support a high impact organization responsible for providing a direct line of communication for news and information to U.S. Forces worldwide. The Front-End Web Developer will be responsible for working with our team and our customer developing applications to support the Agency's mission to present information across a variety of platforms that include radio, television, print and internet/social media. The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter who is ready to hit the ground running and make an impact. We have several major projects currently underway.

Your future duties and responsibilities• Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3• Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery• Good understanding of advanced JavaScript libraries and frameworks, such as Angular JS, knockoutJS, BackboneJS, ReactJS, DurandalJS, etc.• Good understanding of asynchronous request handing, partial page updates, and AJAX• Basic knowledge of image authoring tools, to be able to crop, resize, or perform small adjustments on an image. Familiarity with tools such as Photoshop or Gimp is a plus• Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them• Good understanding of SEO principles and ensuring that application will adhere to them• Experience with software testing and/or test plan development is desired• Familiar with Agile software development

Required qualifications to be successful in this role• DoD Interim Secret clearance required to start on project• DoD 8570 Certification: One of the following: Security+CE; CCNA Security; CySA+; GICSP; GSEC; SSCP• 1+ years Front-End web development experience• Ability to create UI/UX design wireframes and translate them to produce HTML/CSS/JS for visual elements of the application• Ability to bridge UI/UX design graphical design and technical implementation, collaborating with application developers• Familiarity with JavaScript, JQuery• Excellent problem solving, conceptual thinking and analytical skills• Creative intuitive UI/UX design with focus on functionality, user-friendliness, consistency, and conformity to convention ('Don't Make Me Think' Steve Krug concepts)• Good understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git/SVN• General knowledge of hardware and software technologies
