Remote start We're looking for a dedicated AWS Application Engineer to join our client's team. Propel your career along with organizational objectives in a long term role with a high profile government innovator.

This is a contract to hire opportunity. Due to federal security clearance requirements, applicant must be a United States Citizen or Permanent Resident with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance and have United States-based residency for three of the last five years.

Responsibilities of the AWS Application Engineer:
  • Create and manage infrastructure using AWS Cloud services
  • Create automation scripts for provisioning, decommissioning, deploying services, and patching
  • Understand and contribute solutions within the existing three tier architecture
  • Deploy and manage Docker container microservices with AWS services: ECS, Fargate, ECR
  • Work with AWS support to escalate problems to find product limitation solutions
  • Identify potential scaling issues and help define how to monitor and fix them
  • Deliver continuous improvement of scripts and templates for reproducible deployments
  • Participate in release activities and on-call rotation in support of a 24x7 environment

Requirements of the AWS Application Engineer:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years of AWS Enterprise Cloud experience as a Systems Engineer, including experience with AWS services
  • At least 5 years of DevOps pipeline experience, including leveraging Jenkins to develop, deploy, and manage automated scripts and Docker containers to integrate microservices
  • At least 4 years of experience supporting a 24x7 internet-oriented enterprise production environment involving at least hundreds of services
  • At least 4 years of scripting experience: Shell, Python
  • Thorough understanding of DNS, HTTP, TCP
  • Experience with Git, Puppet, Ansible, Chef
  • Agile methodology experience
