Pratt & Whitney’s North Berwick Engineering Center (NBEC) is seeking a talented Sr. Structural Analysis Engineer to work on the existing and next generation of commercial and military gas turbine engine compressor hardware. Key Responsibilities:Provide analytical support for the preliminary design phase through detailed design, development testing, certification by regulatory authorities or government customers, transition to production manufacturing and repair limit definition.

Perform state-of-the-art ANSYS finite element analysis for stress, vibration, mission low cycle fatigue life, residual life (fracture mechanics) prediction, and optimization; stress testing and data reduction; production and in-service field investigations.

Participate as an active member in cross-discipline integrated product teams to provide design solutions that balance performance, cost, and weight requirements.

Seek and incorporate ways to advance technology and improve processes on an individual and team basis.

Ability to write clear documentation, as well as to create and provide impactful, persuasive presentations to management and customers.

Significant interaction with internal and external customers is expected.

Basic Qualifications:

BS Degree in Mechanical, Structural or Aerospace Engineering required or equivalent experience and

5+ years of prior structural analysis experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience.

US Person Status required due to government contract.

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain US government security clearances.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advance Degree.

Experience analyzing gas turbine engine hardware a plus (stress and vibration analysis, low cycle fatigue, fracture mechanics).

Strong mechanical aptitude to understand the interactions of complex assemblies and how to translate those interactions into sound analytical assumptions.

Ability to create and run advanced (non-linear, contact) ANSYS analysis required.

Familiarization with Unigraphics.

Experience in MS office.

Strong communication, interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.

Demonstrated problem-solving experience in multi-functional team environment.
