Job Description

Position summary

This position provides specialist support of assembly and maintenance activities on tubular running equipment (casing running tools, tongs, bucking units etc.) under minimal supervision in accordance with controlled and documented procedures. Additionally, will complete assembly and test operations on moderate to complex subassemblies and final assemblies following engineering drawings, parts specifications, assembly procedures and/or verbal instructions. Performs functional testing of products, monitors and applies settings, calibrates and maintains assembly tools.

Essential functions

  • Troubleshoot, test, assemble, disassemble and perform visual inspection of mechanical assemblies.
  • Read drawings and engineering specifications to perform assembly tasks on products, and perform visual inspection.
  • Assist in reworking, repairing and modifying non-conforming equipment
  • Perform complex and difficult tests with minimal instruction and documentation
  • Identify and communicate technical problems by using logical troubleshooting techniques
  • Supply technical information and assistance to others as needed. Work closely with quality, engineering and manufacturing.
  • Compliance with HS&E policies and procedures in accordance to Company policies
  • Perform all duties as assigned by management

Necessary qualifications, skills and abilities

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Should have 5 years’ experience in manufacturing operation, to include 2 years of mechanical experience building/assembling tubular running equipment (casing running tools, tongs, bucking units).
  • Ability to read/understand/interpret hydraulic schematics, engineering prints, follow formal procedures, and maintenance practices.
  • Ability to identify and communicate technical problems by using logical troubleshooting techniques
  • Should have general knowledge of electrical circuits.
  • Must have excellent oral and written English communication skills, including the ability to recognize hazards, alarms and warnings and convey these to the proper personnel; and prepare daily reports.
  • PC Literate (Microsoft/SAP) - basic computer skills would advantageous

The physical demands must be met by an employee to successfully perform essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, lift materials (maximum 25 pounds), carry, push, pull, climb stairs, climb using legs and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, repeatedly bend, crawl, reach high and low, and twist or apply pressure repetitively, involving wrist and hands. Hearing, seeing ability to include depth perception, peripheral vision, and rapid mental coordination is required. Must be able to tolerate continuous vibrations and elevated noise levels as well as tolerate wearing personal protective equipment, including, but not limited to, a hard hat, steel-toed safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, safety glasses, goggles and full body harness in outdoor temperature & humidity conditions. It is required to be mentally alert for entire regular shift. Must be able to work in a drug-free workplace not be under the influence of mind-altering prescription or non-prescription drugs, including alcohol and other drugs of abuse.

This position will work in the 2M-Tek Lafayette, LA facility. This position will have exposure to elevated noise levels and continuous vibrations. This position may travel to various locations internationally. Some locations may be subject to extreme temperatures and may require extended layovers in unfamiliar locations. Parker Drilling will supply adequate training, PPE, and equipment to meet the functions of the job. Normally, personnel work 7:30am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, but these hours and days may be expanded, depending on the orders that have to be delivered. This position must be able to work overtime and weekends as required.
