Book Publishing and Sales Manager (New Orleans)

As Books Fluent, a JKS Communications Company and sister company to Books Forward

continues to expand in the book publishing sector, there is an opportunity for a book publishing

veteran coming from traditional publishing and/or distribution.

The position will involve both the sales and operations of the new publishing division.

The candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of the overall business of publishing books.

The ideal candidate will have the experience to delegate and manage the quality control of

publishing experts in each phase of publishing. Included in this is the technical expertise in (but

not limited to) copyright, ISBN registration, book cover design, interior book design,

developmental, copy and line editing, metadata, optimization of genre of book for sales/Amazon

sales page, research of comp titles for price, subject matter and book cover design.

Organization, prioritizing tasks, positive and professional communication style, deep attention to

detail and prior industry knowledge are key to the success of the candidate. Position requires

management of contractors. A college degree or graduate degree is required.

The ideal candidate will be an extravert with extreme attention to detail, an avid reader of books

and knowledgeable about the book industry, self-motivated, enthusiastic and who makes

personal connections easily with authors of all genres. This person is a careful listener. The

position requires someone who can creatively solve challenges for a writer/author and offer

solutions that Books Forward and Books Fluent, JKS Communications companies, provide. This

is a creative job that requires being able to think quickly on the candidate’s feet and speak

directly and in a friendly manner to prospective clients. An excellent writer who is self-motivated, able to respond extremely quickly and is a stickler for accuracy and attention to will do well in this job.
