Solutions ArchitectSummary:This position is at the forefront of our digital transformation strategy for life / health insurance operations and corporate administration. The primary responsibility is to develop solutions to achieve our strategic business objectives with considerations for security, performance, and suitability. Designs forward-looking solutions using proven technologies with strict alignment to our architectural principles. Reviews existing solutions code and runtime health for improvement opportunities.Job Duties:#1: Business Development

  • Develop a partnership with business teams to understand the business value chain, operations
  • Cultivate partnerships with business team to gain domain knowledge in order to build the right solution
  • Elicit requirements and capabilities from business stakeholders for product development
  • Effective communicator with ability to relate technical concepts to business teams
  • Evaluate and propose enhancements to legacy solutions
#2: Designing Solutions
  • Lead solution design/architecture to deliver on business initiatives
  • Build architectural specifications and artifacts to facilitate communication with stakeholders
  • Effectively communicate architecture by utilizing design artifacts
  • Embrace an interactive design process to evolve design as scope changes, constraints arise
  • Participate as a hands-on developer during development lifecycle as needed
  • Propose cost conscience solutions
  • Adhere to enterprise principles, design guidelines, standards and methodologies
#3: Implementing Solutions
  • Ensuring solutions are designed in accordance to enterprise architecture and security principles
  • Hands-on code contributor embedded with the development team; active participant in code reviews
#4: Managing Risk
  • Assess and recommend enhancements to current state technical and business flows
  • Review architectural metrics and implement changes to increase stability, resiliency
  • Implement risk management controls, security protocols
#5: Professional Development
  • Collaborating and mentoring developers on applicable patterns and practices
  • Quickly learn new technologies, patterns to apply to business domain
  • Follow industry trends as they emerge or gain adoption
  • On-going personal development through continual learning, training, and mentoring
Job Requirements:Education & ExperienceRequired: Bachelor's degree and 6+ years' experience of architecting and building solutions. Experience with designing and implementing cloud architectures. An additional 4 years' relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.Preferred: Life and Health Insurance experienceCertifications, Licenses & RegistrationsPreferred: AWS Solution Architect - Associate or AWS Solution Architect - ProfessionalKnowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Experience in cloud technologies, patterns and practices; preferably AWS
  • Firm understanding of design patterns and how to apply them appropriately
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Leadership skills and ability to collaborate and facilitate tasks
  • Ability to quickly learn business and new technical concepts
  • Bilingual - English and Spanish is a plus
