ㅡJazz Crawl Productions is a community-minded cultural event organization with a focuson collaborative performances, programs, exhibits, parties, parades and more. Inspired by the magic of New Orleans and the community-bonding tradition of the second line, we showcase local musicians, dancers, social aid and pleasure clubs, culture bearers, artists, restaurants and more through productions including our signature Jazz Crawl for Charity event.
We are seeking a highly creative, organized, motivated and passionate communications director/public relations manager intern to assist in brand messaging and relationship-building with the press and the public. The ideal candidate is someone eager to work for an upstart company from the ground up and someone who can help visualize and execute the “big picture.” An ability to recognize the growth potential of early-stage business development is a must. Candidates should be self-motivated and able to adapt within the dynamics of a quickly growing business. Candidates should be eager to learn and great communicators.
This internship will have a strong focus on teambuilding and growth, so we are looking for someone who can devote several months to an internship. We are currently seeking candidates available July through December. Our aim is to make hiring decisions in early2021.
Although this internship has the ability to earn commission there is not a guarantee of income. It is an unpaid position with high potential for internal growth and plenty of work experience in building multimedia design, developing digital marketing campaigns, artist management, and teamwork. Responsibilities The Public Relations manager is responsible for making sure our stories, offerings, and proposals reach the right people by implementing prospecting and distribution strategies that allow us to forge and develop mutually beneficial relationships with prospective partners, sponsors, press, and other involved communities or individuals.
Primary Responsibilities❖ Help build a clear and concise brand message to educate audiences about
Jazz Crawl Productions events, products, and philanthropic missions.❖ Work with Adobe InDesign to create PDFs used in pitching potential sponsors, partners, artists and others.❖ Compile local and national contact lists to build relationships with prospective industry partners, sponsors, media and publication channels.❖ Create and distribute company brochures, presentations, and sponsor decks using Adobe InDesign templates and email campaign systems.❖ Develop and organize the communications database, including social tags,
SEO keywords, content categorization, and other information.❖ Research information and create written content pieces as needed, including articles, blog posts, and snippets for social media captions.
Secondary Responsibilities❖ Identify and monitor key industry and niche influencers on social media.❖ Build a loyal community around our brand and expand our audience by following social media guidelines to prospect and interact with niche users.❖ Create content by writing articles, drafting social media messaging, producing videos, designing infographics and photo artwork, and anything else your creativity allows you.
Qualifications Ideal candidates will fit within the fun, creative, and philanthropic team culture we are building as a small, but fast growing company. Previous experience and skills within the responsibilities of this particular position are preferred, but more importantly is the ability to buy-in to the big picture of what Jazz Crawl Productions is on a mission to accomplish and find various ways to contribute to the team's efforts.
Required❖ New Orleans culture driven focus to understand, be immersed in, and speak eloquently to the pulse and relevance of our projects and missions.❖ Exceptional writing skills, with particular experience composing proposals, presentations, newsletter, and press releases that engage actionable responses.❖ Ability to clearly and compellingly conceptualize, visualize, and present ideas.❖ Familiarity with the layout and page design software, Adobe InDesign and/or an appetite for learning design programs and tools through tutorials.❖ A completed Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations/Communications or current enrollment in a Public Relations/Communications program.❖ Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, proofreading, accountability, and the ability to manage multiple projects and workflows alongside team members.❖ Proactive self-starter with strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to build up team members and brand awareness.
❖ Passion for helping others and an interest in the entertainment industry, live music, dance, art, digital media, and/or New Orleans culture.
❖ Experience leading teams and managing digital marketing campaigns across multiple platforms including WordPress, social media, and email.
❖ Proficiency in using Adobe Creative Suite design tools, particularly for compositing text, images, and graphics for proposals and promotions.
❖ Ability to commit at least 10 hours a week to team tasks and goals from July through December, and an interest in continuing to serve our mission beyond the internship.
❖ High interest in leadership and entrepreneurship to take the reins and advance the ever-growing Jazz Crawl Productions ideas and side projects.
❖ Curiosity about city cultures, artistic histories, untapped talent, and an interest to learn and expand personally through suggested literature and travel.
