For Victorian based employees, the compliance date is 26 November 2021.All other global Boeing locations do not have a vaccination requirement at this time.The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking an Experienced Structural & Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in New Orleans, LA . NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) provides a critical heavy-lift capability, powering people and cargo to/beyond our moon and into deep space. SLS launches larger payloads farther in our solar system, faster than ever before possible. It will be the most powerful rocket ever built, enabling diverse exploration, science and security missions.Position Responsibilities Include:Design & Integration of space flight hardware designs for NASA’s Space Launch Systems, Core Stage and/or Exploration Upper Stage (EUS).

Develop designs for primary & secondary structures that meet structural and integration requirements using 3-D Computer Aided design tools & other methods to provide product definition to other engineering teams, suppliers and production operations through the product lifecycle.

Support supplier development, test & production activities as required to ensure components that integrate with designs meet overall system/vehicle requirements.

Support/Lead layout activities to mature designs through the development lifecycle and that all stakeholders inputs/requirements are considered in design (Producibility, Cost, Production Efficiency, etc).

Develop new design/analysis processes/tools as applicable to improve effectiveness, quality & efficiency.

Develop datasets (Drawings, Model Based Definition, etc) to communicate engineering requirements & deliverables to stakeholders & customers.

Production support is also performed if/as required.

Some travel will be possible during the program development lifecycle to support program activities at Marshall Space Flight Center, AL and Kennedy Space Center, FL, test houses and suppliers in various states.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

3+ years of experience using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.

3+ years of experience in development programs (integration, test phases), production support, or sustainment engineering.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):1+ year of experience with ProE/CREO or Windchill applications.

1+ year of experience in Model Based Definition (MBD).

1+ year of experience with NASA Space programs or a related Space or Defense program.

1+ year of experience in structural design principles and practices from requirements to production and product support.

Typical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.Relocation:Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position.
