Manpower Engineering and we are seeking a Sr. Process Metallurgist in a casting area for our client in the Owensboro, KY area. Newly created role. Will lead and support all process and quality related aspects of the Casting Department. Direct hire position with nice relocation package.

Summary of what you'll be doing:

• Coach and mentor the area engineers, technicians and supervisors on casting best practices while implementing sustainable solutions.
• Keep up to date on new technologies and look for opportunities to implement in the cast houses.
• Provide metallurgical advice and more-formalized training on metallurgical topics as needed to advance employee understanding of casting process.
• Assist production and maintenance personnel in day-to-day problem solving of process issues.
• Recommend, evaluate, and initiate improvements to casting processes, in the areas of quality, process control and cost control.

Here's a summary of who we're seeking:

• Bachelor's degree minimum in Metallurgical, Chemical or Materials Engineering is required
• 15+ years of related industrial experience
• Experience with aluminum alloys
• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Metallurgy experience is a must
• Casting experience is a must (including looking for quality defects, dispositioning ingots, reporting out on defects, reviewing chemistry and quality on ingots)

Preferred Qualifications

• Quality background would be preferred

• Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC), statistical analysis and continuous improvement principles
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and TS 16949 principles
• Experience in a union environment
