Responsibilities:

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join the global IT team in this newly created position. The successful candidate will be proficient and motivated to develop and support highly efficient systems and be willing and able to bridge the gap between development and operations. We are looking for a hands-on, driven professional to work alongside our IT management team, across all lines of our business, to ensure all objectives are completed efficiently.

This role reports to the Director of IT Operations based in our U.S. office and will design, build and maintain a stable and efficient AWS infrastructure to optimize service delivery across production, QA, and development environments throughout the development lifecycle for our company web sites. Monitor, troubleshoot, maintain, continuously improve building, packaging, deploying processes and supporting Linux based operating systems. Implement automated infrastructure capabilities like backups, security tools, and monitoring. Utilize a consistent DevOps approach to improve all phases of the process and ensure end-to-end quality across functions.

What We Expect:
  • Build, maintain, and support stable and efficient production and non-production environments within AWS, supporting all of our clients web sites
  • Support of the LAMP stack development environment with experience in builds and deployments to support the application development team, working to continuously improve building, packaging, and deployment processes.
  • Drive automation and employ infrastructure as code approach when creating environments
  • Enable site performance monitoring and work with the dev teams on issue identification and resolution.
  • Build and support effective monitoring, alerts, and metrics for production services and applications
  • Work with the sprint teams to provide support for the automation of environments.
  • Develop and document processes to support ongoing development, change control, and production maintenance
  • A specialist on complex technical and business matters
  • Work closely with the development team looking for opportunities to tune the environment, improve performance and throughput
  • Partner with development team and VP of Marketing Technology to support site needs and technical requirements to insure optimal performance and security of all our clients sites.
  • Qualifications

    What We Are Looking For:

    The ideal candidate will possess 5 years of hands-on engineering and direct AWS experience and be able to implement projects while working with minimal supervision while achieving superior results. Working closely with the global IT team, the candidate must be able to document and support all work activities and be willing to proactively seek out and present solutions to chronic support issues or proposals to change policy and procedure to achieve the most robust and efficient infrastructure possible. Above all the ideal candidate must be approachable, structured in nature, enjoy technology and thrive in a dynamic, team-oriented work environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or similar field required; equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • 5 years of engineering and direct AWS experience
  • Experience with AWS stack, including Elasticache, S3, Cloudfront, Perspective, Lambda, and Media Convert.
  • Experience with support and administrating Linux based operating systems (Amazon Linux2, Ubuntu)
  • Experience with RDS and EC2
  • Experience in designing, deploying and supporting container architectures
  • Knowledge of AWS security, encryption and security groups
  • Familiarity with the following additional tools, services, software and DBs: Google Cloud SQL, Redis, Docker, Cloudwatch, New Relic, Wordpress, Symfony, Github, Jira and Confluence.
  • Technical proficiency in a wide variety of AWS and networking technologies, including hands-on management of AWS infrastructure
  • Deep comprehension and experience implementing AWS environments to support high-availability web sites
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to demonstrate strong empathy and patience when collaborating with colleagues
  • Ability to work on multiple priorities and/or projects simultaneously while meeting agreed deadlines
  • Requires ability and willingness to work outside of standard business hours to occasionally support our international business needs, as well as to implement solutions in order to limit impact / exposure to customers
