Job Description

The Scheduling department coordinates with Finance, Customer Service, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Shipping to achieve customer satisfaction while balancing the manufacturing facilities to achieve maximum cost effectiveness and full capacity utilization.

The Operations Scheduling Manager leads manufacturing scheduling and load balancing via a centralized scheduling model. The Manager generates production ton forecasting, monitors daily progress toward these goals, and works proactively to solve issues and obstacles that would prevent achievement of manufacturing forecasts.

The Operations Scheduling Manager also works with management across the company to evaluate and coordinate the successful execution of large and complex projects for high value customers that do not fit within standard operating processes.

  • Leads and manages the Manufacturing central sourcing and scheduling process to ensure company-wide load balancing and scheduling to maximize manufacturing utilization, absorption, forecasting, and efficiency, to accelerate throughput, shorten lead times, achieve delivery dates, and reduce cost.
  • Evaluates large and complex projects to determine the most cost-effective way to meet customers’ needs utilizing internal and external manufacturing resources
  • Actively participates in the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process to ensure alignment of manufacturing capacity with forecasts and planning, and evaluates capacity utilization considering both Tons and Weld Hours to ensure optimal utilization
  • Analyzes sourcing locations to ensure optimal decisions that best utilize capacity and achieve the most cost-effective solution to meet customer requirements
  • Manages, mentors, and trains team of Production Schedulers
  • Prepares monthly production ton forecasts for Operations and Finance, monitors backlog, and liaises with Engineering to ensure effective scheduling of orders
  • Develops, enhances, and maintains the most cost-effective model used for scheduling and load balancing across the manufacturing footprint

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Associates or Technical degree in Business, Manufacturing, or Engineering discipline
  • 5 years of experience in a manufacturing ERP system driven environment
  • 5 years of Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) experience
  • 5 years of experience scheduling manufacturing production orders across a multi-plant footprint
  • 1 year of experiencing managing people
  • Proven track record of high performance

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Manufacturing, or Engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in a supervisory or people management role
  • Experience evaluating architectural plans, project specifications, and product mix
