Job Description
LaunchCode Tech Leadership Fellows guide a group of students as their principal education and support point of contact throughout LaunchCode programs, while simultaneously refining their own professional development goals. The team leadership experience will provide the opportunity to grow your own leadership, people management, and group facilitation skills.Tech Leadership Fellows complete 12 hours of paid training in teaching and facilitation fundamentals, project and people management, diversity and inclusion, and community building. Fellows then serve as a team lead in one of LaunchCode's core learning programs (typically 6-8 paid hours per week for 20-40 weeks), while working towards personally defined career development objectives.This role reports to the LaunchCode Candidate Engagement Manager.Position TypePart-Time - ContractThis is a contracted, part-time, paid position for LaunchCode’s LC101 program in Kansas City. The class will run for up to 25 weeks, beginning on June 1, 2021 with an estimated end date on November 23, 2021. Class will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-9 pm EST. Class is planned to currently meet virtually through as we continue to follow guidelines set by public health officials related to COVID-19. Due to class being virtual, we are accepting applications from outside of our hub locations. Please note that all course staff would still be expected to be available at the class times listed above.Tech Leadership Fellows will be paid $12.50/hr and work 8 - 10 hours a week. Qualifications
Qualifications:- Knowledge of back end or full stack web programming concepts
- Passion for others learning to code
- Strong communication skills - comfortable leading small groups and/or providing one on one teaching assistance
- Perception/patience (knowing when a student needs help and guiding them in how to problem solve to find answers)
- Growth mindset
- A great, proactive leader
- Detail-oriented
- Experienced in teaching, mentoring, or tutoring
- Armed with a solid understanding of JavaScript, Angular, Java, Spring, C#/.Net
- Able to put knowledge of concepts/technologies taught in our curriculum to practice through your full-time job or project work
- Bonus points if you’re a CoderGirl graduate, CodeCamp graduate, LC101 graduate, CS student or graduate, professional programmer, or programming enthusiast engaged in the local tech scene
