Junior Embedded Software Engineer

RFA Engineering (www.rfamec.com) is seeking a Junior Embedded Software Engineerto developsoftware applications for farming and precision agriculture at our client's facility in Urbandale, IA. We are seeking entry-level to mid-career software engineers. This is a full-time position with full benefits, potential for employee bonuses, andflextime benefits. Job Description​ You will be working with a dynamic team of multi-disciplined systems engineers, developers, and architects around the world to deliver software features. Teams utilize Scrum-based project management, and previous experience with Agile methodology is favorable. You will be developing and testing embedded software applications to help optimize end-user productivity and job performance, provide precision machine control, and enhance user experience. You will also get first-hand experience operating machinery to test your work. You may occasionally provide technical support to non-software groups including marketing, manufacturing, quality, and supply management organizations. Requirements

Bachelor's degree or higherin Computer, Electrical or Software Engineering, Computer Scienceor similar field.

Internship or project experience relating to software engineering or control system development

Demonstrated capability in software product development using C, C, Python and scripting languages

Strong communication skills, good organizational and time management skills, and the ability to identify needed actions and act to resolve issues with minimal oversight

Ability to build business relationships in a team-based culture

Desired Attributes

Any background with farming practices, and/or farm equipment operation

Understanding of Agile methodology and/or experience within an Agile team

Experience with Continuous Integration tools and automated testing

Understanding of Product Delivery Process

Embedded software development in C, C and Model Based Software Development (MBSD), realtime operating systems, and/or scripting languages (Bash, Python, etc.)

Practical experience applying closed loop control theory

Simulation and modeling tools (e.g. MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow)

Experience with CAN J1939 communication protocol

Technical experience relating to design/diagnostics of mechanical/electrical/hydraulic systems is desired, but not required.
