Roquette America’s manufacturing facility in Keokuk, Iowa is an expansive continuous processing corn wet-milling facility that proudly produces corn-based starches, syrups and polyols used in many food and beverage applications as well as in pharmaceuticals, paper products, cosmetics and agricultural goods.At the heart of the company, the manufacturing department is delivering to customers' needs and expectations. Are you ready to challenge your strong leadership in an innovative environment?Job DescriptionThe Manufacturing Process Engineer is primarily responsible for process optimization by leading cross-functional collaboration to manage and execute multiple optimization/continuous improvement projects including capital projects simultaneously from conception to implementation, focused on safety, environmental compliance, reliability, production output, yields, and fixed cost efficiency. Additional responsibilities include hands-on troubleshooting of manufacturing processes for quality, environmental and production issues, and recommending and implementing solutions.Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Accountable to all Roquette & site policies and procedures relating to HSE, Quality, GMP etc.Responsible for compliance and participation in all HSE programs.Support and align with site objectives .Participate in site improvements initiatives and complete various audits as assigned.Manage and execute multiple process continuous improvement and problem-solving projects simultaneously from conception through successful implementation, both independently and by leading or collaborating with cross-functional teamsManages, executes and performs engineering assignments, PxB/CAPEX either stand alone or as a significant portion of a larger capital, expense or process improvement projectsLeads interface with vendors, contractors and consultants on project matters.Provide technical expertise in the science and practical operation of processes. For example, focus on corn steeping technology, separation and/or evaporation processes.Lead Operations teams in hands-on troubleshooting of the manufacturing process for moderately complex safety, environmental, quality, and production problems and recommending and implementing solutions.Develop critical control variable process operation ranges and advanced Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions and troubleshooting guides.Develop process system engineering standards for equipment selection and modification, including block flow diagrams, PFDs, mass and energy balances, P&IDs, and other process documentation.Trains Operations personnel on new and/or revised equipment and process operations, both temporary and permanent.Collaborate cross-functionally with production managers, team leaders and operators on process technical matters.Required Competencies, Education, and ExperienceBS Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Microbiology degree 3+ yrs experience in relatable processing operations; 5+ yrs experience preferred3+ yrs Corn Wet Milling process / Separation / Crystallization / Evaporation experience desiredDemonstrated strong technical skills and personal drive in continuous process improvement and cost optimizationDemonstrated complex operational problem-solving and troubleshooting experienceDemonstrated process-oriented project management and project leadership skills, and ability to manage multiple projects concurrentlyDemonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to work directly with engineers, managers, hourly employees and cross-functional teamsDemonstrated strong organizational skills, multi-tasking abilities, and self-motivation.Other duties as assignedAble to work flexible hoursWork with minimal supervision; self-starterExperience with PSM element implementation, compliance and auditing.Ability to consistently deliver top quality work and meet agreed upon timelines.Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position will supervise hourly union employees of the department in the absence of the production team leader.Work EnvironmentThis job operates in the manufacturing plant.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, climb stairs, stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
