Data Architect. This is a full-time, direct hire opportunity with competitive benefits. Due to COVID-19, initially the resource will work remotely; eventually, the resource will need to be onsite in their Des Moines office.

POSITION OVERVIEW:The Data Architect is a key member of the Enterprise Architecture team that ensures that the company maintains a well-designed and well-understood data architecture to enable effective data warehousing, information management, and business intelligence capabilities. This individual fulfills a design and delivery role that provides innovative solutions and thought leadership to the organization regarding the use of data. This individual is responsible for modeling data, including the production of logical and physical data models, and integration processes in support of enterprise reporting and analytics. This position serves as a technical lead for data projects to design, document, construct, deploy, and maintain database architectures and applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/FUNCTION/TASKS:• Collaborate with technical teams and management to devise information strategy and roadmaps for the management of the company’s data.• Support, guide, and develop data models and solutions for the enterprise data warehouse, enterprise reporting, applications, and other data-related initiatives. Integrate technical functionality such as scalability, security, performance, recovery, reliability, etc.• Produce data architecture standards and policies guiding data development, business intelligence, and report development.• Provide thought leadership for the company’s Information Governance metadata and control framework.• Carefully listen to management, analysts, and relevant staff to develop the best data architecture and design.• Ensure data-related projects align with the data architecture and business goals by reviewing solution architectures and designs for adherence to applicable standards and policies.• Contribute as needed to architecture reviews and the information governance function.• Manage metadata repositories for the company, which includes data models, data dictionaries, data lineage, and data quality controls to keep pace with business development and technology modernization.• Manage data architecture artifacts to keep them current, accurate, relevant, and accessible.• Evangelize and consult on data architecture to promote the efficient, effective, accurate, and secure use of data throughout the organization.• Effectively advise and direct data team members and application developers on data development practices, report development, and business intelligence efforts to align with data architecture standards, policies, and procedures.• Conduct code reviews for data development, reporting and business intelligence development, as necessary.• Perform technical analysis and support of ad-hoc and standard reporting, business information requests, and other data-related issues, as needed.• Research, identify, and evaluate current and upcoming data management and development technologies.• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:• BS degree in finance, engineering, computer science or equivalent experience.• 10 years of system design and development experience in data-related positions including data architecture, data modeling, ETL, database administration, database development, and report development.• 2 years of experience supporting business functions in a financial services environment such as accounting, lending, securities trading, or equivalent.• Working knowledge of both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases and related technologies.• Must be analytical, results-driven, and able to employ the right approach and methods to make the maximum use of time and resources.• Strong technical leadership with a thorough understanding of database design principles, practices, and the systems development life cycle. Effective at applying disciplined test practices and an expert at change and configuration management.• Excellent interpersonal, creative, and communication skills that allow effective, proactive working relationships in a team-oriented environment. Adept at simplifying and explaining complex technical concepts to colleagues.• Working knowledge of financial instruments and understanding of accounting concepts.• Motivated by delivery of pragmatic solutions and long-term benefits.• Strong understanding of company’s data and source systems preferred.• Able to complete tasks on set budgetary parameters and targets.
