Job Description
The Production Supervisor position will lead and engage the entire production team to provide a safe working environment where customer needs are being met. The Production Supervisor will achieve these expectations while meeting Perma-Column’s quality standards in the most cost-effective methods possible.
Responsibilities:- Maintain a clean and safe work environment for all production team members
- Ensure safety and quality standards are met by the production team
- Teaches and coaches production employees the knowledge and skill development necessary to produce consistently high quality components safely and profitably
- Engage production team and utilize available resources to make sure customer service and productivity goals are met
- Communicate to production team any required changes in schedule to meet the above standards and goals
- Make sure production team follows established work instructions and get work instructions updated when not accurate or a better method is found
- Develop an environment of continuous improvement where team actively engages in improving the process
- Work with Operations Manager to develop training and hiring plan to develop depth at all production positions
- Work with Operations Manager, Office Manager and Process Improvement Coordinator to establish goals and metrics for the production team
- Meet established goals for the production team
- Participate in weekly production review team with the rest of the management team
- Communicate information to the production team as needed through group and one-on-one meetings
- Resolve any personnel issues as needed
- Resolve any quality, equipment or other issues in a timely manner
- Maintains constant awareness of safety, efficiency & profitability of the production department, displays flexibility and out of the box thinking capability to solve problems
- Communicates clearly and frequently with the Regional Plant Manager, other department supervisors
- Exhibits customer service focus with an emphasis on quality and timeliness
- Adheres to processes that ensure costs are in line with projected budgets
- Willingness to work regular overtime and off-hours as needed
Qualifications
- College coursework completed in Production Management or Industrial Technology or equivalent work experience in the manufacturing, packaging & shipping of building components
- Working knowledge of OSHA General Industry and EEOC regulations
- Five years or more experience working in a manufacturing or related role is highly desired
- Fabrication shop management experience preferred
- Promotes teamwork and demonstrates natural leadership skills
- Proven process improvement efforts and results achieved
- Displays an aptitude for teaching and coaching the safety, quality and production knowledge/skills that lead to excellent customer service
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work on your feet as required
- Microsoft Office skills including Outlook E-mail, Word, and Excel are required
- Displays dedication and enthusiasm to create a workplace environment that values safety, quality, continual process improvement and profitability
- Willing and able to continuously improve in job performance and development
- Lean manufacturing experience
- Desire and ability to move into Operations Manager role in the future
