Job Description

  • Perform recruitment activities for entry level manufacturing positions.
  • Perform interviewing, screening, hiring, on-boarding, mentoring and training processes.
  • Assist in the processes that encourage career development of people and retention of a safe, diverse, competent and effective workforce.
  • Assist in the processes that track, report and audit compliance to laws, regulations and policies.
  • Assist in the processes that track, report and audit plant metrics, targets and goals.
  • Assist in management of employment decision making (discipline, promotions, demotions, terminations), attendance management, performance management, compensation, reward/ recognition programs and all other employee relations activities.
  • Communicate with Company officials regarding situations and decisions that are outside the scope of the plant level such as legal action.
  • Assist in the establishment, maintenance and enforcement of policies, procedures and processes (within the scope of Human Resources).
  • Respond to employee and department questions, complaints and concerns effectively and according to process. Conduct investigation, take appropriate immediate action and make decisions regarding any complaints of severe misconduct such as harassment, substance abuse or violent acts.
  • Assist in plant activities for employee involvement including opportunities for recognition, wellness, community interaction and employee engagement.

Qualifications

Competencies:

  • Knowledge and skills related to new employee recruitment (manufacturing emphasis).
  • Thorough knowledge about laws and regulations that govern recruitment, hiring, worker safety, employment decisions, worker benefits, employee relations, compensation, diversity, work rules and requirements.
  • Highly effective planning, organizing,and problem solving skills.
  • Highly effective communication skills including meeting interaction, one to one employee interactions, written communication, email, interdepartmental interactions and cross-functional interactions.
  • Effective meeting facilitation skills including preparing for, presenting and helping other people interact during meetings that may consist of up to 450 participants.
  • Effective training, coaching and presentation skills including preparing for and presenting a variety of topics. Ability to engage participants in training.
  • Knowledge of occupational safety and environmental compliance and other regulations and laws that govern the workplace to the extent necessary to perform duties, train others, identify improvement opportunities and respond to problems.
  • Computer skills: Company-specific programs, database, spreadsheet, document writing, email, presentation programs.
  • Ability to effectively analyze and solve problems especially those related to people. Ability to engage others in the resolution of problems.
  • Ability to lead by example using a practical, respectful, professional, interactive approach.

Job Requirements:

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • Completion of 3 years of study in a BS/BA Degree Program. Completion of Human Resource Management specific courses preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year practical job experience in any field.

Additional Information

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Hours of work on site usually coincide with the shift of production department (8:00AM – 5:30PM, Mon – Friday). Some Saturday work may be required.
  • The work schedule requirement is 8-10 hours per day, 5 days per week. Hours worked per week are 40-50.
  • Approximately 80% of time is spent in an office environment performing duties.
  • Approximately 20% of time in a manufacturing environment to perform tours and communicate with employees
  • Must dress and present oneself in a professional manner.

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to see, walk, speak, hear, sit and perform other physical activity consistent with the essential functions of the job and working conditions.
  • Ability to use hands to perform tasks such as writing, typing on a keyboard, using a computer, using office equipment and using the telephone.
  • Ability to work a 10 to 12 hour shift. 40-50 hours per week.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions and tasks in a constant state of alertness.
