Purpose of Position:The incumbent is responsible for monitoring a wide spectrum of vital records, producing data files, running data quality checks, and providing technical assistance to data users. Responsible for the preparation, evaluation, analysis, and reporting of vital record data, including the evaluation and processing of data requests.Essential Duties/Responsibilities:•Manages, analyzes, and disseminates vital records data from various sources.•Reviews, analyzes, and disseminates data for quality improvement efforts.•Works to improve quality, accuracy, and timeliness of data submitted to Vital Records.•Conducts data analysis of vital records data and assists in preparing reports and•communications on epidemiology of vital records. This includes writing reports, oral presentations, and disseminating data effectively to a variety of audiences.•Provides relevant statistical and project status updates and assists in preparation of reports for presentations and publications.•Collaborates with epidemiologists and responds to epidemiologic needs of the Vital Records Division, including internal and external data requests.•Incorporates interpersonal skills in communication with agency personnel, colleagues, and external partners.•Performs and documents procedures for data preparation, including data cleaning, standardization, and analysis.•Prepares monthly and quarterly reports, in conjunction with the data quality team, for submission to funding agency.•Performs related duties as assigned.Job Requirements:•Master's degree in Public Health (Epidemiology/Biostatistics), Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Informatics, Statistics, or related field of study. Degree candidates will also be considered.•Working knowledge of SAS and/or SQL as well as statistical procedures, including knowledge of linking methodologies and experience working with large datasets.•Considerable knowledge of computers, and competent in the use of Microsoft Office.•Medical knowledge or background preferred.•Experience working with an electronic records management system preferred•Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.•Ability to prepare reports and presentations.•Ability to work closely with colleagues to identify data-related problems.•Advanced ability to work cooperatively with staff and representatives of external partners and to coordinate efforts of administrative and professional personnel.•Considerable skill in coordinating complex work tasks.•Advanced ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.•Oracle/SQL/database management.
