Job Description

The Project Engineer Associate works within project management led design teams under the direct supervision of Morton Buildings’ architectural and engineering consulting firms to provide code compliant building designs.

Responsibilities: Utilize engineering standards, techniques and methods in accordance with state and local building codes to develop engineering documentation for the construction of commercial, industrial, institutional, residential and agricultural building projects. Prepare engineering calculations for post frame building construction including concrete, foundation, wood and steel components to be presented to the certifying design professionals. Provide value engineering recommendations and options to assist presale teams with quotes and budget sales proposals. Collaborate with customers, sales consultants, preconstruction project managers, drafting technicians and design professionals to verify engineering compatibly with architectural needs, energy compliance and scope of work. Coordinate with project team via Procore or MBI Request for Information process in order to meet deliverable deadlines. Lead or participate in conference calls in order to keep projects on schedule. Manage project priority and communicate progress status reports to project team and management. Coordinate with any subcontracted consultants that have been commissioned to provide services that affect the structural engineering design and development of construction documentation.

Qualifications

Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a building structural emphasis. Must have passed the FE Exam and able to take the P.E. exam. Minimum of 1-3 years of work experience. Must have excellent communication skills and work well in a team setting. Must be motivated, a self-starter, able to work independently and be capable of meeting deadlines.
