Basic Purpose :The Materials Science Division (MSD) of Argonne National Laboratory is seeking applicants for a Postdoctoral appointee. The research project aims at discovery and elucidation of novel properties that emerge at interfaces of transition metal oxides, with a focus on superconductivity, and novel spin and charge transport properties. Experimental work involves synthesis using Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) and other approaches, and the use of a wide range of probes to characterize interfacial properties.Position RequirementsKnowledge, Skills and Experience:A strong background in materials science/experimental condensed matter physics, and a keen interest in synthesis of materials with novel electronic and magnetic properties.

Expertise with charge and spin transport measurements is desirable.

You should have recently received a Ph.D. in a discipline relevant to the research area (materials science/condensed matter physics).

This position will involve a considerable amount of experimental laboratory work in thin film synthesis, fabrication of lithographically defined structures and characterization of transport and magnetic properties. The candidate is expected to think and work independently and conduct research in a highly interdisciplinary environment of physicists and materials scientists. Please contact Dr. Anand Bhattacharya ( anand@anl.gov ) for inquiries related to this position.
