Job Description

  • Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Shift:1st Shift: 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM - Rotating Weekends
  • Location: Feinberg/Galter, FL MZ

The

Support Services Specialist reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Specifically responsible for escorting patients as assigned.
  • Responsible for checking each patients name band prior to escorting to ensure proper patient identification.
  • Provide and adjust escort equipment for safety and comfort of the patient i.e., appropriate linen, side rails.
  • Required to disinfect/wipe down equipment with approved cleaning product between patient transports.
  • Assist patients onto escort equipment.
  • If patients need additional help, patient care should be asked to assist.
  • Shows ownership over escort and EVS equipment, including routine cleaning, linen dressing and minor maintenance.
  • Responsible for notifying nursing or ancillary personnel upon arrival or departure of patients.
  • Attends to the care of documents relating to the patient e.g., medical charts.
  • Makes routine specimen rounds when assigned to assure that lab specimens are picked up and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Makes certain that all requisitions are attached and those specimens are properly bagged by department staff prior to delivery to the lab.
  • Deliver blood products when assigned.
  • Check name and number on each blood product for accuracy.
  • Responsible for delivering deceased patients to the morgue when assigned.
  • Report immediately any unusual symptoms of patients i.e., fainting or shortness of breath during time of escort.
  • Vacuums carpeted surfaces and damp mops hard surface floors.
  • Cleans window sills, and waste baskets.
  • Arranges furniture in patients room.
  • Cleans sinks, mirrors, toilets and replaces supplies as required.
  • Strips unit upon discharge.
  • Terminally clean patient room, including blood and body fluids and prepares room for admission. This includes the use of a Tent card and toilet seat strip.
  • Washes walls, blinds, lights and similar surface areas and hang cubicles and drapes.
  • Operates electrical and battery operated machines for burnishing and infection control.
  • Transports hospital property from area to area or building to building.
  • Properly utilize the Bed Tracking Program.
  • Log into the computer at the start of the shift.
  • Upon commencement of the cleaning process move the dirty bed, clean next, or a stat and move it to the In Progress category.
  • Once completed move the bed into the Bed Ready category log out at the end of the shift.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Sufficient to understand oral instructions.
  • Sufficient experience is required to gain overall knowledge of cleaning equipment, methods and solutions.
  • Enrollment in BLS training course within two (2) months of hire and successful completion within three (3) months.
