Job Description

The Operations Manager (OpM) is critical to the success of KIPP Bloom College Prep & KIPP Bloom Primary, located in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood and serving 840 students in grades K-8. The OpM leads the school’s implementation and maintenance of clear operational systems that allow the principal and teachers to focus on teaching and learning, and enables a supportive school environment. The OpM therefore will be an individual who embraces structure, innovation, and continuous improvement, and relishes the challenge of finding ways to work smarter. The OpM will report to the principal and the regional director of school operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Student Enrollment: Leads school’s annual effort to enroll new students – including strategic planning, canvassing, waitlist management, and registrations – and re-register current students each spring/summer.

  • Attendance: Leads school’s effort to reach 96% average daily attendance for the year, which includes creating a plan for daily attendance calls and data entry with the OM and OA; analyzing data; and implementing incentives for students, families, and staff members for hitting daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly goals.

  • Facilities: Keeps the school’s physical plant –both inside and out – in good repair and works closely with engineer and custodians. Ensure facilitate exceeds district and public health expectations for cleanliness and safety.

  • Technology: Oversees maintenance of student and teacher computing devices and other hardware & software.

  • Food Service: Oversees meal service and acts as primary point of contact for food service staff. Serves as escalation point for student/staff concerns.

  • Stewardship: Serve as a key ambassador to the school’s larger community. Effectively build relationships with family, staff, and community stakeholders with compassion, direct communication, and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 2+ years of school-based work experience

  • Demonstrated strong project management skills

  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities, and to prioritize tasks appropriately

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills

  • Evidence of personal initiative and follow-through

  • Meticulous attention to detail

  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure to hit deadlines

  • Strong technology skills: proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) & Google Drive (Docs, Sheets, Slides), and able to quickly learn how to use new programs/systems

  • Demonstrated passion for and commitment to the KIPP mission
