Responsibilities

The Claims Communication Product Suite within Enterprise Technology (ET) - Claims Correspondence and Claims Delivery Services is seeking a highly technical software developer who can contribute to our efforts to support, modernize and expand the capabilities of the creation, automation and delivery of digital Claims documentation solutions focused on accelerating our migration from Standard Platform and TP2 to Amazon Web Services (AWS).

You will be part of a team which is modernizing software and streamlining our processes while ensuring we continue to provide reliable services to meet the demands of our Enterprise Claims System. Since we are a product centric team, experience with managing production CICD pipelines (DevSecOps) with Jenkins, Gitlab DevOps, Terraform, etc is highly desired as the team manages and owns the product from cradle to grave. The person we are looking for works best in a diverse technical environment and be willing to self-start and learn without much supervision.

As a software developer in this role, you will get to:
  • Build solutions on the platforms to satisfy those requirements
  • Work as an agile product team using Scrum or Kanban
  • Use AWS services and tools to build solutions enabling interaction ingestion, journey orchestration and integration
  • Write code with Java or Python on AWS
  • Continuously improve oneself and redistributing work

Incumbency: This position will have an 18-month incumbency period, beginning on the effective date of the position, which must be met before the employee can post for any other lateral State Farm position. Employees may be considered for leadership or Technology Engineer openings at any time, and a promotional position within the same job structure (i.e. Professional/Technical or Para-professional/Support) after 6 months from the effective date of the position. In these cases, the remaining incumbency would be waived. The incumbency period does not affect the at-will relationship between State Farm and the employee and does not create an employment contract, nor contractual rights.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:
  • Knowledge and experience developing software solutions leveraging multiple languages (Java, Python, JavaScript, Node.js, etc.
  • Experience in AWS with a background in Java development on cloud platforms (AWS Lamda, Step Functions, Redis, RDS, and NoSQL databases)
  • Knowledge and experience of Splunk and Dynatrace
  • Experience with managing production CICD pipelines (DevSecOps) with Jenkins, Gitlab DevOps, Terraform, etc is highly desired
  • Knowledge and experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry - building and deploying applications with Java
  • Familiarity and use of test automation tooling to enable continuous integration/delivery pipelines would be valuable
  • Willingness to learn new technical concepts quickly and share their knowledge with the team

Preferred Skills/Experience:
  • AWS Services and Certifications a plus
  • Experience with Salesforce (Lightning Web Components)
  • Experience with OpenText Exstream
