Volt's client has an opening for a Components Engineer.Length of Assignment: 3-month contact (project-based role)Pay rate: up to $55/hour, DOESchedule: Monday-Friday, typically 8-5Work location: On-site to start, could go remote after a week or two of trainingProject will involve: Analyzing alternate components (discrete, IC, etc.) for compatibility (parametric, mechanical – FFF) with product designs.JOB SUMMARYThe Component Engineer sources, selects, and qualifies components. Investigates alternate component technologies or manufacturers for cost and reliability. Acts as technical interface between component manufacturers and development engineers, determining new and alternate sources. Develops guidelines on vendor selection. Evaluates supplier part change notification (PCN) for actions required. Maintains component data in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Enter new (or update existing) material components into the PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) database for final review by senior Component Engineers.
  • Provide technical support to New Product Introduction (NPI) and Product Sustaining Engineering teams upon request. Assist in the resolution or escalation of component-related issues and communicate proactively with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Participate in Component Engineering team support to Engineering and Supply Chain for component obsolescence, end-of-life, and availability issues.
  • Support integration of external design work to internal systems.
  • Process Part Entry and updates as necessary and per established guidelines.
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or other related bachelor’s degree required from a four-year college or university.
  • 2+ years related experience, preferably with advance digital and analog component selection and documentation experience.
  • Understanding of analog, digital and power electrical/electronic circuits.
  • Excellent communication skills, preferably with experience communicating with suppliers.
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrates familiarity (typically 2+ years of direct experience in the essential functions of the position)
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint desirable.
  • Familiarity with materials science or electronics manufacturing processes desirable.
  • Familiarity with Agile Product Lifecycle Management tools are desirable.
