Job Description

Position Summary & ObjectiveServe food and beverage in a timely, friendly and professional manner according to established standards and procedures.

Service StandardsEye contact should be made at a distance of no less than 10 feet from every guest.A genuine smile should be offered at a distance of no less than 5 feet from every guest.Employees should build rapport with guests during any conversation, if the guest responds to the initial statement with a conversational demeanor.Guest last name is used effectively, but discreetly, as a signal of recognition as least once and not more than twice during any conversation with guests.Before concluding conversations, the guest is verbally offered additional assistance with a statement relevant to the guest’s individual needs.

Essential Functions of the JobSet up, maintain, work and breakdown station and maintains area cleanliness throughout shift, cleans work area at shift endHave accurate working knowledge of the Micros system.Maintains restaurant cleanliness through meal period.Assists in the clearing and set-up of tables during service.Ensures tableware and chairs are clean and in place.Completes side duties.Maintain the proper care and cleanliness of tableware, serving equipment and service areas (front and back of house).Complete paperwork for each meal period ensuring sales in Micros are accurate.Ensure friendly greeting to all guests.Take orders and serve food and beverage requests promptly. Ensure that established service procedures and standards are followed.Check with guest during service for guest satisfaction.Use suggestive selling technique for food and beverage.Attend daily pre-meal pre-service meetings.Know all menu item origins, preparations, and ingredients.Responsible for guest check and proper payment.Is familiar with Colorado liquor laws; Does not serve intoxicated guests or minors.Carries tools necessary to perform job, i.e. crumbers, corkscrew, etc.

Qualifications

Education, License/Certifications & SkillsHigh School diploma or equivalent.Previous food and beverage experience preferred.Ability to multi task and prioritizeCompetent with computer programs such as Micros.Must have the ability to work with numbers (cash exchange).Knowledge of wine, food and cooking methods, ability to work well with people, strong organization and supervisory skills, good public relation skills, professional appearance.

Language SkillsExcellent written and spoken English.

ExperiencePrior guest service experience is required.

GroomingAll employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Aspen Skiing Company Hospitality standards.

Working Conditions and Physical RequirementsIndoors v Outdoors - Indoors 95% of the time, Outdoors 5% of the time.Standing v Sitting - Standing 100% of the timeWork Environment -. Working as part of a team; working AM, PM. Working holidays. Overtime may be required due to business needPhysical Requirements – Ability to lift, push/pull items up to 50lbs.Constant reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing and seeing (near, far, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision). Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, tasting, smelling.
