The Villas in Honolulu, Oahu is looking for a Resident Care Manager to help us manage nursing staff and oversees the operation of a nursing unit and the daily delivery of care to residents. Is responsible for implementing and tracking the effectiveness of nursing programs, plans or policies designed to enhance the quality of resident care services at the unit level. Keeps Director of Nursing informed of both progress and potential problems. Coordinates unit admissions, discharges, and transfers. Oversees Infection Control processes at unit level.

Shift: Exempt, Full Time (40+ hrs a week), Weekends Required

Duties include but are not limited:

Direct, manage, and lead nursing staff and operation of nursing unit.

Implements and / or assists in development and revision of processes and systems at the nursing unit level.

Identifies and assesses problems that may arise; investigates and directs inquiries and complaints to appropriate member of management team.

Monitors and trends outcomes of performance and to continuously improve quality. Assists with data gathering and analysis to identify trends and institute actions to resolve problems promptly. Evaluates effectiveness of actions.

Conducts daily rounds in unit to monitor performance and educate staff. Reviews records and interviews staff members, residents, families and other parties. Trains staff on processes as well as current rules, regulation and guidelines that govern long-term care facilities.

Provides feedback to staff on issues that are clinically significant to assist the team in understanding the various medical issues that residents and families may face, enhancing the care plan process through feedback.

Ensures clinical services and resident care activities are documented by nursing staff according to established policy and procedures to assure timely and accurate completion of records.

Conducts care planning in a timely manner as per schedule and as resident's status changes.

Conducts accurately physical assessments of residents, determines their needs and implements appropriate interventions to meet those needs. Evaluates the assessments conducted by other Charge Nurses and educates as required.

Reviews 24-hour report from unit daily to ensure timely, effective responses to significant changes in condition, transfers, discharges, use of physical or chemical restraints, unexplained injuries, potential abuse or neglect,

Ensures documentation and nursing assessments are completed within appropriate timeframe.

Attends IDT, PI, Safety, Management Team and Staff meetings.

Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited nursing school.

Minimum of 1 year of experience as a professional nursing experience required.

Experience in geriatrics and current nursing standards of practice preferred.

Management experience preferred.

Current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse in the State of Hawaii required.

First Aid and CPR preferred. (can be done in-house).

Must have current medical/health screening including 2 step TB clearance (can be done in-house).
