About the Position: This position is with the U.S Army Sustainment Command, 406th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Supply and Services Division, located in Fort Stewart, Georgia. Responsibilities Receives and/or process a variety of ammunition. Stores items in accordance with established storge plan. Marks containers in accordance with established procedures. Updates magazine data magazine cards with inventory results in accordance with established procedures. Updates magazine data cards with daily transaction in accordance with established procedures. Issues correct ammunition by lot number to units. Operates powered forklift truck (e.g. electric, gasoline, or diesel) to lift loads up to 10,000 pounds. Ensures items are loaded on vehicles in accordance with the Department of Transportation (DOT) hazardous materials requirements. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Munitions Handler (Forklift Operator) without more than normal supervision to include 1) Loading, unloading, and arranging cargo; 2) Receiving, storing, and shipping ammunition; 3) Reading documents to verify description of items; and 4) Operating electric, gasoline, or diesel- powered forklift truck. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments Physical Effort: Stands, stoops, bends, and works in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for prolonged periods. Frequently lifts and carries material weighing up to 70 pounds, and at times may handle items weighing over 70 pounds. Moderate physical effort is used in operating forklift hand and foot controls while driving, turning, starting, and stopping the forklift truck and raising, lowering, and tilting loads being moved. Working Conditions: Work is primarily in igloos/magazines that are unheated, with concrete floors and have no lights. Incumbent is subject to extreme caution due to the nature of items involved and must at all times adhere to fire, safety, and security regulations within assigned areas. Work requires handling hazardous materials, subject to exposure to explosive hazards and chemical fumes. Work requires wearing protective clothing such as steel-toed shoes, rubber gloves, face shields, and aprons. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a Logistics Career Field position.
