Requisition Number: 215526 Cox Communications is looking for a candidate who will work on the Cox Common Middleware Infrastructure Group which provides support as well as deployment and integration of new services for anything related to the receiving, processing and delivering of Middleware service for the Wireless, Customer Gateway (CG), SAIL and Video (CVM) platforms. This position will be focused on Infrastructure build and support to include capacity management, planning, lifecycle management of software and hardware assets, and procurement.

Primary Responsibilities and essential functions:
  • Provide back office Infrastructure support for all Middleware Services at multiple datacenter locations.
  • Deploy, integrate, enable and monitor infrastructure and applications for multiple Middleware platforms & services.
  • Develop budgets for lifecycle management of all environments to include purchase, implementation and retirement of physical resources.
  • Coordinate, evolve and manage process of Infrastructure implementation with a cross functional team of stakeholders, ensuring hardware and software Enterprise standards and requirements are met.
  • Manage and maintain Middleware support documentation including architecture diagrams, in-service reports, installation and retirement procedures, and other reference materials.
  • Provide input and recommendations to the future network design and architecture of the Middleware application back offices and networks.
  • Create and maintain monitoring and management of capacity of all environments, ensuring the Middleware team has the resources needed to deliver projects on time and on budget.
  • Automate build, patching, deployment, etc. tasks using Jenkins, Ansible, etc.

Qualifications:

Minimum:
  • Generally 5-8 years of experience in related field (systems administrator or systems engineering) OR generally 3-5 years of experience in related field if candidate has an advanced degree
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Excellent UNIX systems administration skills in Linux environments
  • Strong experience with working with an ISP web / java server environment (Apache, JBOSS, Tomcat, interacting with Oracle databases, multi-tiered load balanced environments)
  • Understanding of TCP/IP Networking including OSI Model and basic UNIX system level network troubleshooting skills
  • Must be self-motivated and results oriented
  • Must be comfortable working in a team environment
  • Must be able to work through technical resolution of problems in a cross-functional environment.

Preferred:
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science/Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years RedHat Linux system administration or system architecture experience
  • Script development with bash or other scripting languages
  • Familiarity with DNS, WiFi, VMWare/VCloud, IPv6, networking/security, and/or load balancing
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, Rancher, Google Cloud Portal, Anthos,
  • Experience with New Relic, Atlassian Tools
