POSITION PURPOSEThe Sr. Product Engineer-Smart Products is a business partner to the merchandising team supporting Engineering launch and operation of private brands products. The engineer will be the subject matter expert for SMART and provide guidance to the team on Smart product performance, design and interface with Apps. The engineer will partner with internal PE teams to ensure proper design and operation of Smart products, smart modules and resolution of product performance of HubSpace enabled products. The engineer will be the liaison to align and support project work with the APP development team as well as the IT/Cyber security team. Having good business acumen and financial knowledge of key terms will aid the engineer in relating the information to the Merchant community in a constructive and collaborative manner. The engineer works in a team environment as an individual contributor.MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES40% - Engineering project management of new and existing SMART products. (APP Revision control, smart module requirement development, and test protocol development)

20% - Complete resolution of product performance concerns

20% - Follow Industry Trends (including staying current on technology changes, regulatory requirements)

10% - Conduct financial and value-based calculations, summarize the findings for the business in presentation quality format and communicate findings to key stakeholders

10% - Provide general product Engineering guidance and knowledge or evaluations as required to deliver short term business goals

NATURE AND SCOPEReports to Director of EngineeringENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTSEnvironment:Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.Travel:Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMust be eighteen years of age or older.Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.Education Required:The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.Years of Relevant Work Experience: 5 yearsPhysical Requirements:Most all of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).Preferred Qualifications:Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent in a field of study related to the job

Masters of Business Administration

Product costing experience

Extensive understanding of Bills of Materials

Knowledge of Merchandising Financial terms

Knowledge of INCO shipping terms

Experience working in a manufacturing and/or product development environment including design for reduced Manufacturing and Assembly costs

Experience working with OEM suppliers through the product development cycle

Experience working with vertically integrated manufacturers

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:Excellent communication skills

Ability to work in cross-functional team environment

Business acumen and understanding of Merchandising

Ability to use standard hand tools and lab equipment such as technical measuring equipment, power tools and pneumatic tools.

Proficient with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Ability to use costing software such as Boothroyd Dewhurst DFM/DFMA

Demonstrated manufacturing knowledge in areas such as plastics, metals, glass, wood, textiles and Printed Circuit boards
