Job Summary:The Director is a voice for the organizations mission and charitable purpose and is responsible for leading, managing and providing oversight and direction for all Community Health functions. This includes oversight of the regional community benefit investment portfolio, development of investment strategies, development and execution of programs that maximize community impact and measurably improve community health, and oversight of community relations functions that enhance Kaiser Permanentes image and reputation in the community. This role oversees community collaborations with existing regional and national entities and builds new relationships to support the work. Engages in collaborations with business, philanthropy, education, and nonprofit leaders to support program objectives in collaboration with VP, government relations, and community relations functions. Maintains and supports a culture of compliance, ethics, and integrity. Maintains knowledge of policies and procedures and performs in accordance with the Principles of Responsibilities and applicable regulatory requirements, external laws, and accreditation standards in such a way that Kaiser Permanentes not-for-profit, tax exempt status is enhanced, preserved and maintained. Appropriately reports observed fraud or abuse.Essential Responsibilities:Responsible for Kaiser Permanentes nonprofit mission, which includes oversight and management of the region/markets community health investment portfolio.

Responsible for the strategic operating plan, budget and goals for all community health programs that align with needs identified in the community health needs assessments and align with enterprise strategies.

Coordinates and works with all enterprise Community Health teams and local market leadership teams to ensure execution of strategies and to ensure initiatives are implemented in accordance with the regions demonstrated community needs.

Management and oversight of the community health care and coverage programs, including but not limited to Medical Financial Assistance, Charitable Care and Coverage, Medicaid, CHP+, and/or Safety Net programs.

Management and oversight of the region/markets community benefit policies and expenditures, assuring proper controls and practices are in place.

Oversee Community Benefit internal and external communications including preparing annual reports, intranet articles and identifying opportunities for exposure to various stakeholders.

Oversees professional and support staff, including interviewing, hiring, professional development, evaluating, and coaching. Ensures that all personnel actions conform with Kaiser Permanente EEO/AA objectives and personnel policies.

Responsible for effective communication of community health strategies with all health plan and hospital leaders. Responsibilities may also include oversight of charitable contribution and/or strategic initiative committees.

Responsible for coordinating efforts with shared service teams related to public health planning and measurement including community needs, and demographic health indicators data mapping.

Ensure strong coordination and support across all health plan, hospital and program office departments.

Liaison with other department director/managers to ensure they are fully informed and engaged in community health objectives, purposes, and achievements.

May Create and manage implementation of community relations strategies and programs to address documented community needs and support Kaiser Permanentes business objectives.

May oversee execution and coordination of volunteer program in coordination with other key health plan partners.

Other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

Minimum eight (8) years of excellent collaboration and communication skills.

Minimum eight (8) years of progressive experience in health care, public health, or nonprofit administration.

Minimum five (5) years of program (direct or indirect) leadership/management experience in health care, public health, or non-profit administration.

Minimum five (5) years of demonstrated experience in providing leadership in health care or social impact area, including directly or indirectly leading cross-functional teams.

Minimum five (5) years of strategic or business planning, budgeting, relationship development, staff and/or program management experience.

Education

Bachelors degree in non-profit management, business administration, communications, public health, social work or related field.

License, Certification, Registration

Driver's License (Georgia) required at hire

Additional Requirements:

Must have exemplary communications skills and ability to work effectively with diverse audiences and communities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience managing complex, multi-organizational community development programs is preferred.

Experience managing budgets in excess of $10 million preferred.

Ability to develop strong relationships and communicate effectively within a large, complex, diverse organization.

Experience in service-oriented industries, Healthcare experience highly preferred.

Familiarity with subsidized programs preferred.

Masters degree in non-profit management, public health, business administration, communications, social work or related field preferred.
