About this role

Role Title: Data Research & Solutions Specialist

Location: Atlanta

Level: Vice President

The Data Strategy & Solutions team, within BlackRock's Active Portfolio Management Group (PMG), is focused on driving the evolution of data research across investments. Our team of business analysts, data engineers and data scientists partner with investment teams across all asset classes to translate data into actionable insights, leveraging innovative alternative data sources and analytical tools.

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced technical business analyst, with experience in financial services, to work closely with investors across PMG to understand research interests, assess unique alternative datasets, and implement differentiated data solutions that complement investment styles.

You will be joining a team that deeply shares your passion for data and its potential to positively transform the investment landscape.

Responsibilities:

You will drive the full lifecycle of data research, including data discovery, assessment, analysis, and implementation of analytical tools to deliver differentiated insights to investors across PMG

Engaging investors across a wide range of investment styles to understand objectives, processes and support alpha generation
Researching companies, sectors, and macroeconomic themes to determine how alternative data can help build actionable insights
Analyzing structured and unstructured data in context of a research thesis
Discovering unique datasets, analyzing strengths/weaknesses, and making recommendations on relevant datasets
Demonstrating creativity in exploring investment ideas and scoping new data assets
Driving innovations across our platform to deliver best in class outcomes

Requirements

4+ years' experience in a data-centric team or organization
Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
Passion for investing as well as a continuous desire to learn more about financial markets and alternative data in context of investments
Exposure to investment research (sell-side or buy-side) highly desirable
Experience managing client expectations and delivering client-defined projects
Ability to communicate and align priorities across multiple teams with inspiration and authority
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment on multiple concurrent projects
Experience with technical business analysis and stakeholder management
Knowledge of Python, SQL (highly preferred)
Exposure to Azure, AWS or Google Cloud Platform platforms a plus
