The Configuration Consultant will be responsible for effectively taking a set of known requirements either memorialized in previous documentation or through reverse engineering specs and convert those into a configuration in the new cloud based Product.

This person will be responsible for creating the configuration, testing it through both "direct to service" api calls and end to end testing of the configuration via the external facing API to ensure quality delivery of each and every configuration.

Candidate needs to demonstrate self motivation with an inclination for constant learning, and effective team participation. The candidate must have the ability to follow instructions with minimal oversight, and think critically to fill in gaps where they may exist and help document and bolster the process for other team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning: Person will work with a designated project manager to plan for weekly configuration tickets and organize documentation in order to get the tickets into the "definition of ready".
  • Solution and Configuration Creation: Taking the requirements from the planned and ready tickets to convert them into a functional client facing configuration matching the specifications. This will include datasource access configuration, client workflow orchestration, potential business logic/rules creation based on datasource responses.
  • Configuration Testing: Ensuring that the full end to end of the configuration is tested including the business rule logic and that the configuration is error free. The person will also be responsible for ensuring that the configuration transactions are enabled for billing and that all offline reports match the transactions generated.
  • Managing Configuration Deployment: Once the configuration is completed and tested, this person will also ensure that the configuration is deployed in customer facing environments (UAT and Production with approval) following a proper release management procedure established by the client.

    • Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in MIS, computer science, information technology, analytics or equivalent
    • 2-5 years of work experience performing strategic delivery and/or operational data analysis in a consulting services company
    • Ability to work independently and set priorities to achieve desired results.
    • General understanding of software as a service and APIs (Postman, properties files, Business-Rules editors, etc.).

    Preferred Skills
    • XML/WSDL/JSON
    • Postman
    • Database (Oracle preferred)
    • Conceptual knowledge of SDLC methodologies (ex: Agile, Scrum)
    • Jira, Confluence

    Additional desired skills:
    • Direct hands on experience with Business Rules Editor tools
    • Previous scripting experience
    • Strong documentation skills
    • Proficiency in G Suite tools

    Easy Bullets: Needs:
    • maybe one slightly seasoned config specialist to guide the team
    • need to be able to grasp the tech stack as IC is kind of a more complex stack than other products
    • junior dev profile may be fine (must be coachable)
    Day to Day:
    • Converting requirements from either a previous document or reverse engineering spec into a configuration in the new
    • Setting up liferay org, sts users
    • configuration of datasource connection from IC to datasource
    • Writing rules in SMARTs (a business rules editing tool) - some previous scripting experience will help move this quicker
    • configuring a business orchestration using connections
    • Using Apigee portal to map IC credentials to the customers' API access subscription
    • Testing configurations: data layer, rules layer, business flow layer, and end to end (mostly in Postman)
    • Troubleshooting bugs in delivered solutions (usually rules or datasource based)
    Most of the work will be done via UI portlets but some may require modifying properties files and then pushing them via an API.
