Duration: Fulltime Location: Tampa, FL Role: Senior Cloud Database EngineerPrimary Skills: Amazon Web Services (AWS)Role Description: The Senior Cloud Database Engineer must have at least 5+ years of experience. In this role, you will be reporting to the Director of Software Engineering, and be tasked to design, implement, operate, monitor, troubleshoot and manage the Companys cloud database solutions to meet business and software development and delivery needs. Responsibilities: Responsible for implementing and managing the companys cloud database solutions with optimal design, performance, scalability, and high availability, as well as enforcing best practices in database and overall data processing/reporting systems. Be the one responsible for the wellbeing and continuous improvement of the companys database solutions to meet business and software development and delivery needs, including but not limited to: o Evaluation, recommendation, and choice of database engine/platform o Design, review and implementation of data model and databases o Day-to-day maintenance and operational support such as troubleshooting or development and execution of database scripts/hotfixes o Optimization, monitoring and issue resolution with the database infrastructure and services Owns changes and change management to the companys databases, such as: o Existing or new: databases, tables, stored procedures, views, triggers, indexing, scheduled tasks, maintenance plans and so on o Review, test, approval, documentation, and execution of changes o Database-driven configuration and content updates o Deployment, updates, and migration Examples of projects and tasks: o Document and review current database solutions on AWS to identify gaps and improvement needs o Evaluate and recommend changes or new database platforms/services (capability, performance, scalability, HA capability, sizing & pricing etc.) o Plan, test and carry out database implementation or changes including migration o Monitor availability, health, and issues of database services, be notified, and respond to alerts o multi-tenant databases and processes to support onboarding and implementation of new customers at scale o Assemble data sets, create, automate, and manage data pipelines/exports to support data reporting/analytic tools and processes o Data Warehousing/Data Lakes design and implementation to support data reporting/analytic initiatives and BI platforms & tools o Backup and recovery for business continuity, as well as test runs, documentation, and validation Serves as a member of the companys Operation Response team with potential off-hour responsibilities or other responsibilities as assigned. Job Qualifications/Skills:Education and Experience Bachelors degree in computer science/information science/engineering or related fields preferred 5+ years of professional working experience with databases, with both database operation and database development experiences. 5+ years of professional working experience with cloud/AWS database services in a code-centric database engineer or data engineer role. Experienced in researching, selecting/migrating, and implementing best appropriate database services/platform options. Skills and Expertise: Advanced RDBMS and NoSQL databases working experience as well as multiple AWS database services and tools such as Amazon RDS, SQL Server, DynamoDB, Aurora and PostgreSQL (preferred). AWS data platforms and tools such as Amazon S3, EMR, Glue ETL, Athena, QuickSight, SageMaker, Redshift. Advanced SQL, can design, implement, and maintain database solutions using tables, stored procedures, functions, views, and indexes using the platforms best practices Data warehousing and data lake design implementation Python based automation for custom data pipelines and data sets for reporting/analytic solutions and 3rd party integrations Software development life cycle support of database, data, and analytic services. Database maintenance, performance/health monitoring, design for HA and backup/recovery capability. Database backup and disaster recovery operation/automation. Code, test and deploy ETL pipelines and database related automation in Python using Spark and other open-source analytics related libraries Solid familiarity with containerization and Terraform infrastructure as code Excellent verbal, written communication, documentation, and presentation skills. Work independently and collaborate well with architects, developers, DevOps, and IT management team. Self-motivated and highly organized, analytical and result oriented.
