RESPONSIBILITIES:A Kforce client in Orlando, FL is seeking a Linux Admin in a fully remote setting.
Summary:The Linux Admin will be responsible for providing technical support within the team of Systems Administrators. Areas of support include but are not limited to LINUX (RedHat) administration, shell scripting, Linux backup and recovery, server network configuration, logical volume management, Linux clustering, hardware setup and troubleshooting, system log management, Linux patching and upgrading, LDAP, hardening of systems. Support includes specification, installation, and testing of computer systems within established standards and guidelines. They are epxpected to work independently within management and company guidelines. The System Administrator will have mentoring responsibility for other System Administrators, Desktop and Helpdesk Support Technical positions. The Admin will work with management in establishing processes, controls, security, and strategy around system support initiatives.The Linux Admin will be responsible for the configuration and maintenance of the LDAP installations. They will also be responsible to create and maintain various Linux scripts in languages like bash, PHP, Perl, and others, encompassing various levels of complexity. They will be responsible for Virtual systems lifecycle under VMware, snapshot management, cloning, VM migrations, Storage management under VMware, VM network configuration, etc. This person should be knowledgeable of VMware best practices and security configuration. The candidate must be able to perform on a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. The candidate must be able to handle full lifecycle systems tasks, from loading the operating systems from bare metal to decommission the systems and everything in between. All the Linux systems are 100% virtualized.REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience 2-3 years of experience in Linux administration and scripting 2-3 years of experience in VMware usage or administration VMware Horizon a big plus Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with employees at varying levels of the organization Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilitiesMachines, Equipment and Technical Abilities: In performing the essential job functions, the employee will be required to have familiarity with the following computer technologies: Knowledge of VMware and Linux (RedHat) operating environments, as well as exposure to industry products, terminology, and trends Knowledge of shell, scripting, and system-level programming Knowledge of Networking setup and configuration Knowledge of LDAP Knowledge of VMs lifecycle management under VMware Knowledge of Ansible, Tower or comparable technologies Knowledge of storage (SAN) concepts or administration Systems hardeningAdditional Skills and Abilities: In addition to the minimum qualifications listed above, the following skills are also desired: Strong organization skills Attention to detail Ability to work with little supervision Ability to prioritize and multi-task Ability to make decisions when dealing with multiple alternatives Excellent troubleshooting and research skillsKforce is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
