Job Description: Support one or more core middleware technologies that are underpinnings of critical business applications. Will work with Middleware support team that is engaged in tuning and support of middleware environments; consults with Application Architects and Developers on middleware usage. Work with other internal teams to troubleshoot and remediate performance bottlenecks and production issues. Will build Middleware configurations in support of application rollouts and application growth. Install and configure middleware software on virtual and/or physical servers. Work with logging software, such as Splunk, to help meet security and regulatory compliance standards. Minimum 4 years middleware administration experience. Solid understanding of AWS infrastructure provisioning. Familiar with Kubernetes, Terraform, Chef, Ansible, AppDynamics, and Splunk.

Responsibilities:

Assist in identifying root causes of operational issues, resolve problems and/or recommend solutions for implementation by others
Design systems management solutions using automation and self repair, rather than alarming
Ability to move forward and take action in the face of ambiguity and imperfect knowledge
Consult with application team as necessary to resolve issues and/or clarify requirements
Provide research, design, building, testing, and support to software platform(s), including support for multiple levels of testing prior to release of new and upgraded platform or infrastructure
Identify and recommend the development of best practices, new approaches, validation, and adherence to existing processes
Assist with documentation of new and existing standards and best practice
Participate in the development and refinement of standards and best practices for the production environment based on the needs of the supported business units
Willing and able to ask difficult questions and build consensus when necessary
Present technical information, in communicable verbal or written format, technical and/or business audience

Basic Qualifications:

4 to 6 years of progressively related experience in Systems Engineering (including provisioning and troubleshooting cloud environments)
In-depth knowledge of systems applications and hardware, server architecture, operating platforms, NAS/SAN technologies, and internet and web applications
Experience with:
- AWS provisioning and support
- Tools and middleware including Chef, Ansible, Terraform, Kafka, AS400
- .NET
- Open Source
- Scripting
- Bash
- Enterprise operating systems (Linux, AIX, Unix, Windows)
- Apache Tomcat, IIS
- Splunk

Preferred Qualifications:

4 to 6 years experience in the cloud (Position is virtual)

Required Education:

4-6 years of experience in Systems Engineering

Preferred Education:

Technical Bachelor degree or equivalent work exp
