Job Description

We are growing our Digital Brand Strategy team and are looking to bring on an SEO Specialist to support us in continuing to meet and exceed the business’ expectations for revenue growth. You will report to the SEO Manager and work collaboratively with colleagues in Corporate Marketing, Production, Editorial, Development and Engineering teams across both our Book and Journal divisions.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Performing ongoing keyword discovery, expansion and optimization of websites and webpages which aim to capture search intent
  • Defining and building keyword lists based on objectives and market opportunity, using a mix of proprietary tools, analytics data, and pay per click (PPC) data
  • Preparing and executing on-page optimization strategies to achieve organic visibility
  • Reviewing web analytics data to provide feedback to SEO Manager on performance, and to analyze visitor behavior and trends to come up with the next steps
  • Collaborating with the content and outreach teams to help identify opportunities to create, distribute, and promote web content
  • Working with our internal resources to prepare, plan, and execute link building and content marketing strategies
  • Reviewing website server logs, crawl reports, and analytics reports to come up with strategies to improve indexation
  • Conducting or supporting the technical audits, analysis, and implementation of technical recommendations to help reduce website page speed, uncover and remedy web crawling issues, analyze JavaScript rendering, and more
  • Tracking and reporting on results to SEO Manager via reporting dashboards
  • Collaborating with SEM specialist(s) and SEO Manager to leverage complementary insights to ensure SEO strategy is consistent with paid search efforts
  • Continuing to learn and develop SEO skills from online resources

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of demonstrated experience, and passion, in organic (SEO) search marketing both Onsite Technical SEO and Offsite Link-building SEO
  • Ability to write compelling, optimized content (on-page content, metadata, blogs, etc.)
  • Ability to think strategically to identify and define keyword opportunities for optimization
  • Clear understanding of important on-page SEO factors that impact a site’s ranking
  • Knowledge of technical website elements including XML sitemaps, HTTP status codes and redirects, breadcrumb linking, canonical tagging, Robots.txt, crawl budget, site speed optimization, .htaccess, pagination and Schema markup
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript, and/or other programming languages
  • Proven understanding of how to interpret data from analytics platforms such as Google Analytics and Google Search Console, Moz, BrightEdge, DeepCrawl, Conductor, SEMRush, ScreamingFrog, and/or others to drive strategy and report performance
  • Exceptional working knowledge of Excel and other data analysis and business intelligence tools, as well as other MS Office and Google Suite products.
  • Efficient analytical and organizational skills
  • A tireless work ethic and passion for digital marketing
  • Strong face-to-face, telephone, and email communications skills
  • Organized and detail-oriented
