Cloud Security and Engineering SME

Peraton is seeking a Cloud Security/Engineering Subject Matter Expert to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Washington, DC. This position will support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Science and Technology Directorate (S&T), Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO). This program will provide the professional technical services to assist the organizations, missions, functions and objectives enabling DHS S&T to integrate innovative technology into everyday use by the DHS operational components. Support includes all hardware, networks, enterprise architecture, information assurance and service delivery support. The Cloud Security/Engineering SME will provide acquisition support, network operations, system development and engineering, systems analysis and VTC support. These are all vital parts of S&T personnel successfully accomplishing the mission and securing their IT assets. This position will be located at S&T headquarters in DC. Some travel to other S&T sites could be required. Roles and Responsibilities of the Cloud Security/Engineering SME include:

• Acquisition Support - you will research potential solutions to maintain, expand, or upgrade the network, test/development facility, field sites or other activities where the purchase of IT assets, maintenance, warranty coverage are needed and provide recommendations. Government purchases shall be performed in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), using existing approved purchase request forms and templates to streamline the acquisition process. You will coordinate with the DHS Office of Procurement Operations as needed to make the purchases. You will prepare drafts of all required procurement supporting documentation to include justification statements, cost estimates, evaluation criteria and change request forms as needed.
• Network Operations - includes services for operations, maintenance, network infrastructure, capacity management, reporting and IT enhancements for DHS S&T systems.
• Engineering and Systems Development - includes activities pertaining to infrastructure/platform software development support for existing, planned, and future DHS S&T IT systems. You will capture user and business owner requirements; coordinate with S&T personnel regarding enterprise architecture; identify functional, security and performance requirements; develop logical and physical database models; program, test, perform quality assurance, design, and program documentation; implementation; maintain interoperability between future and existing hardware and software applications. Software applications include but are not limited to web applications, COTS integrations, GOTS integration, and custom applications development. Products must be section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 compliant. You will provide modernization and enhancements to software applications and data warehouses and provide user training. You will provide services including system configuration and integration, physical site analysis, installation and relocation of equipment, and high availability configuration.
• Systems Analysis - you will identify system design alternatives, advantages, disadvantages, and requirements. You will make recommendations based on the best available information. You will review architecture for end user and project specific applications and design new configurations and planned integration tasks. You will recommend steps to incorporate information assurance into system design including IT infrastructure and functional applications. You will coordinate engineering solutions with technical personnel from other DHS components and develop and update system documentation.
• Video Teleconference Support - you will provide operational support for video systems equipment used to conduct video teleconferencing (VTC).

• 9 or more years of experience with a Master's Degree;
  OR 11 or more years of experience with a Bachelor's degree;
  OR 15 or more years of experience with a high school diploma
• Experience in engineering, systems development and systems analysis
• Experience in the design of cloud infrastructures using industry best practices and the delivery of Cloud Infrastructure strategies aligned with business objectives with a focus on Cloud migrations and deployments
• VTC support experience
• NOC experience
• Experience in acquisition support
• Candidate must have or be able to obtain DHS EOD clearance in addition to an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI

• Candidate is preferred to have one or more of the following certifications: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), a Microsoft 365 Certification, Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), CISCO/CCNA-VoIP Admin, AWS certification, Microsoft Azure certification, and/or a networking ceritfication such as the CCNP.
