Summary This is a full-time position with the Marshal's Office at the Supreme Court of the United States in Washington, D.C. Responsibilities The Building Support Technician (Elevator Operator) provides elevator service for the Supreme Court. Performs as elevator operator. Performs pre-operation checks to ensure that the elevator is working properly prior to putting it into operation. During operation, notes any unusual conditions or discrepancies, shuts down the elevator if necessary, notifies the appropriate maintenance personnel of the problem and informs the Building Support Supervisor (Day). Performs as relief elevator operator as required. Assures that the elevator remains clean during tour of duty. Provides security by limiting access from elevators to restricted areas. Responds appropriately to passenger requests for service and information about the Court building. Performs other duties as required. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Experience or training as an elevator operator is desirable. Ability to operate elevator; understand oral and written instructions; perform under pressure and to communicate and interact in a professional and cooperative manner with Justices, Court Officers, Court employees and members of the public is required. Education A high school diploma is required.
