Job Description

The Manager, Human Resources will partner closely with the Director of Human Resources and Administration as a strategic and operational professional providing support across HR policies and procedures and assisting with the management of the day-to-day operations for NASTAD’s

human resources function. The Manager Human Resources will champion NASTAD’s anti-racism and engage employees and maintain NASTAD’s culture in a remote world.

Essential Duties

  • Assist the Director of Human Resources and Administration with developing and implementing Human Resources procedures, policies and regulatory compliance, including updating NASTAD’s Employee Handbook with a special emphasis on anti-racism and remote employees and multi-state employment best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with state labor laws and manage state-specific registrations for new and existing remote employees, i.e. state taxes, worker’s compensation etc.
  • Administer all employee benefits and partner with NASTAD’s HR and Finance and Accounting teams in the processing of bi-weekly payroll.
  • Onboard new employees with the Human Resources Associate

Work with NASTAD’s hiring managers and the Human Resources Associate to create job descriptions, post new positions, screen candidates and schedule interviews.

  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience/Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (4 years of work or lived experience is equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree) and 3-4 years of relevant Human Resources experience, preferably in a non-profit or association.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification is desired.
  • Experience processing payroll; familiarity with iSolved/ Payroll Network HRIS greatly preferred.
  • Experience administering employee benefits, including FMLA and ADA claims. DC Health Link knowledge very desirable.
  • Extensive multi-state experience (including California) is required: registering new employees for state-specific taxes, worker’s compensation etc.
  • Robust commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Excellent stakeholder management and engagement skills.
  • Outstanding written, verbal and presentation skills and experience in creative problem solving
  • The ability to develop, maintain, and strengthen partnerships with others inside or outside the organization who can provide information, assistance, and support.

Additional Information

Environment and Scheduling

  • This is a full-time position with a salary range of$62,900 - $66,600 per year

  • Full-time, 40 hours/week role
  • Interest in working at a national HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis public health organization.
  • Desire to work within an exciting, fast-moving and diverse environment.
