Job Description:

We are looking for a Technical Project Manager to manage information technology projects for the AmeriCorps program. Candidate should have previously managed a portfolio of technical projects at the same time for a government customer. You will be developing projects schedules (in MS Project and/or JIRA), coordinating project teams, and tracking and reporting on project status. Candidate should have experience developing projects schedules in Microsoft Project and desirable to have experience tracking tasks in JIRA. You will also be responsible for the continued project delivery for technical projects. You will work with program team and customer in the on-time/within budget execution of project tasks.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manages all aspects of one or more technical projects
  • Follow configuration and change management process for all changes to the environment
  • Follows project management methodology and implements PMI best practices
  • Delivers full project management life-cycle solutions including planning, tracking deployment, and completion for projects
  • Develops effective plans and minimizes changes by setting realistic objectives
  • Facilitates communications and consensus building among various project groups
  • Use project management software (Microsoft Project) to track projects
  • Maintains issues and risks list and project artifacts according to established guidelines
  • Develops and maintains operational maintenance plans and procedures for completed projects
  • Solicits and validates stakeholder requirements for transition of current services to new changed environment
  • Assists implementation of new services while ensuring availability and performance of critical existing IT services
  • Conducts project meetings and is responsible for project tracking and analysis
  • Research, plan, communicate and achieve objectives through program/project team
  • Oversees the team as they plan, track and execute project plans from start to completion
  • Recommends changes to improve the process and to alleviate process inaccuracy and duplication
  • Ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews project deliverables.
  • Tracks hardware assets throughout their lifecycle, identify and report on potential problems with the asset tracking tool (system/performance issues, constraints, etc.)
  • Accurately tracks software license compliance and usage
  • Establishes metrics and provides regular reports to POCs as requested
  • Manages final disposition (excess, destruction, vendor pickup etc) of all software and hardware assets
  • Notifies contract owners when renewal and expiration dates approach to prevent lapses in coverage
  • Builds and sustains effective communications with all stakeholders in the project towards the goal of maximizing the customer experience
  • Engages with cross-functional teams to design and implement IT asset mgmt processes and policies supporting the lifecycle
  • Audits the execution of processes and adherence to policies
  • Reviews licenses and/or contracts to ensure that hardware and software equipment is covered by the contract and properly documented

Qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Social Science or minimum 4 years of applicable experience in lieu of degree
  • Three+ (3+) years of experience managing changes to the IT environment with progressive experience in managing, directing, and implementing information technology projects.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent infrastructure, cyber and/or migration projects required
  • Experience in project management lifecycle including initiation, execution through closure
  • Proven success developing detailed implementation plans and schedules taking into consideration project constraints
  • Proven success in planning, scheduling, and executing technical projects within budget and schedule
  • Solid understanding of and demonstrated experience in using appropriate tools:
    • Project management principles and tools (MS Project and JIRA)
    • Agile PM tools
    • Microsoft Project, Visio, and all Office Tools
  • Experience in working with key stakeholders in the planning of projects and migrations
  • Experience in working with program staff, customer POC’s and users in requirements gathering and project charting
  • Familiar with data security concepts and tools
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Possess strong technical knowledge in 3 or more of these areas;
