Storage Systems Engineer Support Specialist

(Commvault Administrator) to join their team for contract opportunity in Washington, DC.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: The Office of House Information Resources, Enterprise Operations & Facilities, Enterprise Storage & Data Protection (ESDP) Branch, is looking for a Contractor with advanced experience in enterprise class data protection solutions used in protecting data for enterprise applications and operating systems infrastructure. This SOW establishes the Offeror's level of effort for on-site contract services to provide system administration and maintenance for the U.S. House of Representatives (House) Enterprise Storage & Data Protection infrastructure.

Background: The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the House has been charged by the Committee on House Administration (CHA) with supporting and maintaining the information technology (IT) and service support structure of the House. Enterprise Operations & Facilities (EO&F), Enterprise Storage & Data Protection (ESDP) is responsible for managing the data for many House Enterprise Applications including, but not limited to House Financials, HCFS, Messaging, Mobility, and specific CMS Vendors. With the Enterprise Storage & Data Protection infrastructure continuing to expand and increase in complexity, the demands on the Enterprise Storage and Data Protection (ESDP) branch requires additional engineering support for operations, maintenance and technology improvement activities to maintain top-level service to the Members and staff of the House.

Scope: The System Engineer contractor will provide for the augmentation of the current Enterprise Storage and Data Protection (ESDP) branch in support of daily operations and maintenance with a focus on processing enterprise backup and restoration requests in support of Member offices, enterprise messaging, financial systems, vendor servers, CAO servers, databases, and application servers. This Mid-Level Engineer will serve full-time, approximately 1,920 hours per year, to assist EO&F with system administration activities relating to the evolving House Enterprise Storage and Data Protection infrastructure consisting of over 4 Petabytes. This includes, but is not limited to, managing the ESDP environment, supporting capacity planning, providing performance and trending analyses, advanced troubleshooting and assisting with new technology integration and research. The required duration for this support is a period of one year. Candidates submitted for this task should be flexible enough to work a diversified schedule at all House data center locations, via telework, and participate in 24x7 on-call technical support. Proposed staff must be available to start work on-site on or about September 15, 2021.

Minimum Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include 6 years of relevant experience with data protection systems, a bachelor's degree in the related field or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. Candidates must be able to secure and maintain Federal Government security clearances as deemed appropriate by management.

Required Experience & Expertise: Evaluation, implementation, and management of production

Commvault data protection software, as well as

Commvault Hyperscale, AWS,

PURE FlashArray & FlashBlade, and NetApp data protection targets. Implementation and management of enterprise data protection and recovery systems. Communicating technical topics to elected officials, senior executives, managers, and IT professionals in a manner appropriate to their knowledge level. Ability to comprehend and integrate complex computer technology and software into an effective enterprise data protection and recovery strategy. Maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues, users, contractors, and vendors. Relevant operating systems security (Windows, ESX, Solaris, Linux, etc.). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues with network/operating systems. Experience with a combination of PURE Snapshots, Oracle Cloud, AWS S3 & EC2, GCP, Commvault Metallic, and/or Microsoft cloud (Azure, O365, Teams, SharePoint). Experience with Windows File server and share administration.

Desirable Skills: Understanding of VMware ESX; vSphere; vCenter Understanding of cloud technologies (backup and target) Understanding of IT security and encryption technologies Understanding of Network Attached Storage (NAS) technologies Understanding of SAN Fabric (Cisco preferred) Understanding of block and object storage Understanding of BCDR procedures Understanding of DFS Understanding of Converged infrastructure technologies Understanding of Data center layout and designs Knowledge of Hybrid, private, and public clouds Understanding of Active/Active configurations Understanding of Kubernetes and containers

Work/Roles and Responsibilities: Provide technical guidance in analyzing and evaluating data protection policies and success rates. Provide daily management of production Commvault systems including windows media agents; Commvault Hyperscale Appliances; Private Metrics Server; Client package creation; and cloud, NetApp, PURE, and Hyperscaler data targets. Provide daily support of customer requests for recovery efforts to include but not limited to: Exchange, Windows file systems, Unix files systems, Oracle databases, and SQL databases. Incumbent will also provide assistance in planning, designing, and evaluating hardware and software recommendations to enhance and improve the Enterprise Storage and Data Protection systems as a whole. Position may require the ability to work shifts to provide support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Create and update standard operating procedures and technical documentation.
