Maxar is currently seeking an Aerospace Engineer for Radiometry to join our team in Longmont, CO.Life with UsYour Project: The Remote Sensing Sciences (RSS) team performs calibration and commissioning of new Maxar space imaging platforms while maintaining the accuracy and performance of the existing on-orbit constellation. In this new position, you will be responsible for operations, calibration and development activities within an existing RSS team, with emphasis on Radiometric calibration. As an ideal candidate, you must have the ability to grow in subject matter expertise over the span of several years through on-the-job training and experience. You will work help in the work of daily activities and automate RSS cloud-enabled services while improving the underlying functionality of the service / scientific core. You will work with Maxar Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to design and commission new imaging sensors while maintaining and improving the current Maxar space imaging constellation and RSS cloud-enabled services.Your Career: We are very serious about professional development and continuing education at Maxar. - Execute radiometric strategies during initial operations and throughout the life of sensors to meet mission image quality requirements
- Electro-Optical/Infra-Red (EO/IR) image data and statistical analysis and algorithm development for radiometric calibration applications
- Automation of RSS workflows and service orientation of existing processes
- Manage and order of imagery to support all aspects of sensor calibration; imagery ordering management and execution
- Learn end-to-end image processing chain from sensor electronics to the production of product deliverables from a radiometric point of view
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within and between teams
- Prepare and give presentations to peers, management
- Must be a U.S. citizen and be willing and able to obtain U.S. Security clearance
- Bachelor's degree in remote sensing systems, data science, physics, engineering, optical sciences or a related field. Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in remote sensing, image processing, or statistical analysis
- Experience developing and maintaining scientific software with Python or other high-level programming languages
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds unassisted and work outside for numerous hours to support field collection for absolute radiometric calibration activities
- Master's degree in related field
- Active Secret clearance
- Detailed knowledge of digital imaging systems and remote sensing operations
- Experience with statistical processing techniques and large sets of measurement data
- AWS/Cloud computing experience
- Knowledge and experience working with a Geographic Information System (GIS)
- Comfortable working in a Linux computing environment
